Hi,

bianca.vaccarini wrote Knowledge14 advice for first-timers (I'm already tracking the discussion to know your good advices) but because we have a world outside the know14 (yes yes, it exists), I would like to ask the same question about San Francisco

Regards,

I have only ever been there once, for a total of 2 days in which one day was spent on a soccer field. Based on that trip here is some advice I have:

  1. Pack warm clothes - it gets really windy and cold in the day time
  2. If you plan on taking public transportation while you are there, I suggest you download the app HopStop
  3. Bring an extra portable battery charger or snap on your Mophie

Bring:

  1. Comfortable walking shoes
  2. Layers — the weather is temperamental
  3. An appetite
  4. One (or many) of these apps to help you navigate restaurants, transit, entertainment, etc!

Must-Do's:

  1. Start at Union Square. Take the Powell cable car to Ghirardelli Square, eat a Ghirardelli ice cream sundae, and walk up Hyde to Lombard Street. Worth it. Take pics. Walk down Lombard to North Beach and grab an Italian coffee and pastry near Washington Square Park. Take the 30 bus through Chinatown back to Union Square. Amazing & diverse experience.
  2. Taxi/Uber or drive to Tartine Bakery and get the Pecorino & Almond hot pressed sandwich. You're welcome.
  3. Walk from Moscone to the Ferry Building and drink a Blue Bottle coffee while gazing out over the bay.

Btw, "Lombard Street", I spent many hours on this race... : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS9kQq2ynYo

Take a ride on the 101 North go over the golden gate bridge, take the 2nd exit to Alexander Ave go under the highway and follow the road around the bluffs etc.

You will see amazing views of SF if its windy ( thats what blows the fog away)   LOL

It will be chilly ..

Eventually you will end up by an old military camp and there is a beach there also..

In Chinatown find a dumpling store , if you can read the prices in English look elsewhere. The places that are all written in Chinese are where the local eat and local pricing. There are enough you can eat one dumpling and move on to the next store.. Dumpling crawling in SF..
