Hi Community,
In Hardware Asset Management there are hardware model table [cmdb_hardware_product_model] and custom hardware asset model library [sn_hamp_custom_hw_product_model] tables.
What are the differences between the two tables, and when are each tables used?

Hi @jnt-cnt ,
Hardware models are where information about the items in your environment would be contains such as Desktops or Server models.
Now, If you have a hardware model that isn't represented in the Asset Management Content Service yet, you can create a custom model.

Hi @Community Alums
I can see on the form that the "new" button is available for both hardware models and custom models.
What is the best practice when a model is not available on ServiceNow and needs to be added?

@Community Alums
Thank you for your answer
I was looking on instance, that a custom hardware model cannot be used for creating assets.
This requires creating a hardware model [cmdb_hardware_product_model] and adding model categories, manufacturer and name.
Then what would be the purpose of creating a custom hardware model, when you can directly create a hardware model, which can be created and used by assets.
