CTA Pyramid-new.png

It's Friday again! (Saturday-Sunday-WAHT?) The day for Virtual collaboration sessions (VCS). Even tough today we completed Week 3 of the EMEA CTA program today, this article will summarize my impressions from Week 2.

The VCS started with some recognition for the so called "Star of the week" and "Super contributor" students.

"Super contributor" is given to the student who contributed the most during the previous week - by peer-reviewing other groups, leading conversations on the discussion board, etc., while "Star of the week" is given to the presenter that did best during the previous week. For Week 1 this was Pablo del Castro who did a great job introducing our team (TomorrowNow) in front of the customer! As per the Master trainers' comments, Pablo got this because of the balance between confident delivery, good storytelling and clear slides.

Cheers, Pablo - way to go!

After the fruitful Week 1, in Week 2 we had to start with the real technical ServiceNow stuff - to lay down the foundations of a successful digital transformation journey for our client. Our goal was to learn how to:

  • Articulate the value of the Platform,
  • Run workshops and
  • Discuss strategies for best-in-class CMDB/CSDM Implementation

While I am more or less capable in the first two topics, I am definitely not an expert in the CMDB/CSDM topic. That means nothing at all when you have a team of experienced people, willing to discuss, challenge themselves and share knowledge! On the one hand, I was able to learn a lot from the team. On the other - I know that I have these people ready to help me whenever I need someone to confirm my concept or share insights. Thank you, Team!

Key take aways from Week 2 (apart from the power of teamwork):

Technical architects:

  • must be able to articulate the value of the Platform to make sure the customer's journey with ServiceNow is creating value. To achieve that, an architect must be able to understand the customer challenges and desired outcomes, identify the solutions and capabilities to solve them and show quantitative metrics.
  • are responsible for running effective workshops, taking care of multiple aspects like logistics, agenda, engagement, and outcomes
  • discuss the benefits of a proper CMDB implementation and the role of CSDM to make the CMDB Service-aware. This is of a huge importance to lay down the foundations of a successful ServiceNow implementation.

As always, thanks for reading.

See you next week!
