Hi everyone, I’m a CSA-certified fresher, passionate about building on the ServiceNow platform and learning the ropes of real-world development. I’ve completed hands-on practice with flows, scoped apps, ACLs, and scripting using JavaScript.
However, I’m finding it tough to get shortlisted for entry-level ServiceNow roles due to lack of experience, despite certifications and self-study.
- What worked for you or someone you know to land a first ServiceNow job?
- Do hiring managers consider freshers if they’re CSA-certified and hands-on?
- Are there specific companies, partners, or regions open to fresher hiring?
Any insights, tips, or even leads would mean a lot.
Thank you

It is totally based on the requirement.

But some company are still hiring for fresher for internship first after that they will confirm the job.

Hi @sanjay_n_s
I’m a ServiceNow trainer and happy to share my thoughts on this. ServiceNow is becoming increasingly broad and deep these days, and the best way to kickstart your journey is by earning the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification. The CSA provides a solid understanding of the platform, its terminology, and core modules. Once you get hands-on experience with the platform through CSA, you can decide on your next path.
Employers value professionals with experience across multiple modules, so it’s important to expand your knowledge and add more products to your portfolio. Consider focusing on areas like ITSM, GRC, HRSD, CSM, or SecOps.
Currently, the training is free, which is a fantastic opportunity. However, the real challenge is gaining hands-on experience. To overcome this, the ServiceNow community is an excellent resource. Dedicate at least 1-2 hours a day engaging with the community — read questions others are asking and contribute your own responses. Over time, this will improve your skills and boost your confidence.
Additionally, mastering scripting is essential if you want to become a developer. There are many courses and exercises available on developer.servicenow.com to help you practice and enhance your scripting skills, which will strengthen your portfolio.
Start with the CSA certification and then choose your next step based on your interests — whether that’s development, becoming a Business Analyst, Change Manager, or Project Manager. A solid foundation will give you the flexibility to pursue any domain you prefer.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hi @sanjay_n_s ,
Fresher's recuirtment totally depends on the requirement. I am also taking interviews in my company and if the requirement is for fresher or 1-2 years experience, my focus will be on Basics. If teh candidate have solid concepts without any experience/certification as well, i will hire him. Candidate with Certification/experience wihout proper concepts will be rejected.

Hi @sanjay_n_s
Being a ServiceNow trainer and working closely with many individuals — including freshers, non-IT professionals, and even IT folks who are either planning to join or have recently joined the ServiceNow ecosystem — I’d like to share an honest and clear perspective.
These days, ServiceNow has become both wide and deep in scope. Simply having a CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification may not be enough to secure a role, but that doesn't mean the CSA holds no value. In fact, CSA helps your CV get shortlisted.
As I mentioned in my earlier reply, here’s what you should focus on:
-
Add more products/modules to your CV
-
Brush up on your core and foundational skills
-
Get hands-on experience wherever possible
-
Actively participate in the ServiceNow Community to gain insights and understand real-life use cases
I'm happy to help further if you need any guidance

Hi @sanjay_n_s ,
To stand out in the ServiceNow job market, consider specializing in high-demand modules like Security Operations - SecOps. Practise more on AI-driven tools such as Virtual Agent Designer, Now Assist, Agentic AI. Simultaneously, practise more on scripting and Integration. By focusing on these areas, you'll put yourself as a valuable candidate for entry level job roles in ServiceNow domain.

Hey Nikhil, Thank you so much for the reply.
I have spent a fair amount of time understanding the concepts and their implementation. I hardly find openings for freshers in servicenow space, how can I get better experience and get sorted on the practical side of things.
Any insights will make a world of difference for me, Thanks again.

I can only speak to my own experience, but I had 5 years of systems administration and other IT-related experience before I landed my first ServiceNow job. 3 of those years were working in ServiceNow, but in other roles such as Sysadmin and Helpdesk.
