Hi there @sanakhancs

If you're starting out, I'd recommend earning the CSA certification, building hands-on experience in a Personal Developer Instance (PDI), and showcasing your projects on your resume and LinkedIn. Then apply through ServiceNow partners, the ServiceNow Careers portal, and other job sites. A combination of certification and practical experience will significantly improve your chances. Right now ServiceNow has crazy amount job opportunities.

ServiceNow is getting bigger, wider, and deeper with every release. Because of this, attending a single training course or earning a certification alone won't guarantee success. Certifications validate your knowledge, but what truly matters is building strong fundamentals and continuously learning as the platform evolves.

From your question, it sounds like you already have a good coding background, which is a great advantage. However, the key question is: do you have a solid understanding of the ServiceNow platform? If not, that's where you should begin.

My recommendation is to start with the Certified System Administrator (CSA) learning path. The Administrator Fundamentals course is freely available through Now Learning and provides an excellent introduction to the platform. It covers the platform architecture, core components, navigation, data model, security, and the fundamental concepts you'll use throughout your ServiceNow career.

Once you've built a strong platform foundation with CSA, move on to the Certified Application Developer (CAD) learning path. This is where your existing coding skills will become a real advantage. You'll learn how scripting, application development, business rules, client scripts, Flow Designer, and other development capabilities are implemented within the ServiceNow platform.

These two certifications provide a safe and structured roadmap:

  1. CSA – Build a strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform.
  2. CAD – Apply your programming knowledge to develop applications and customizations on the platform.

Following this path will give you both the platform knowledge and technical skills needed to grow confidently in the ServiceNow ecosystem.

I'm also sharing a few useful resources that will help you get started on your learning journey.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Follow this master playlist to strengthen your JavaScript skills specifically for the ServiceNow platform.

  1. Spend at least 1–2 hours daily on the ServiceNow Community. Observe the kinds of technical questions being asked and how experienced members respond. You’ll learn a lot passively this way—and I highly encourage you to start answering questions as well. Explaining concepts to others will improve your technical thinking and deepen your understanding.

  1. Explore the free courses available on the ServiceNow Developer Site. These are practical and focused, and will help you apply your knowledge directly on the platform.

Hello @sanakhancs ,

Below are the key points which you should focused on :

1. ServiceNow Administration (CSA)—Start with the System Administrator learning path and prepare for the CSA certification. Learn users, groups, tables, forms, lists, security, notifications, update sets, and platform fundamentals.

2. Scripting – Spend time learning JavaScript along with ServiceNow scripting concepts like Client Scripts, Business Rules, Script Includes, GlideRecord, GlideAjax, UI Actions, and Flow Designer. Strong scripting skills are expected in most ServiceNow roles.

3. ITSM Fundamentals – Get hands-on with Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Service Catalog, and Request Management. These are the most commonly used modules in real-world projects.

4. Build on a Personal Developer Instance (PDI) – Create your own applications and implement real-world use cases instead of only following tutorials. Practical experience is what interviewers often look for.

5. Learn Integrations and Automation – Explore REST APIs, Import Sets, Transform Maps, IntegrationHub, and Flow Designer, as these are widely used in projects.

6. Practice Interview Scenarios – Understand common ServiceNow interview questions and be prepared to explain the logic behind your implementations.

Once you're comfortable with the above, you can specialize in modules like HRSD, CSM, GRC, ITOM, or AI-powered capabilities such as Now Assist, depending on your career interests and market demand.

The key is to balance learning with hands-on practice.
