Plugin Upgrade Version Detection Script â Simplifying Plugin Lifecycle Management
The Key Challenge:
Keeping plugins updated across ServiceNow environments can be difficult when teams rely on manual checks or scattered email notifications. To make this easier, I built a lightweight solution using simple OOTB fields in the Sys Store App table.
The Solution:
This script automatically checks plugin version history and identifies when a new update is available. When an update is detected, it creates an Agile story to review the changes, test in lower environments, and plan the upgradeâensuring smoother release cycles and better governance.
⨠What This Solves
-
No more manual plugin version checks
-
Automatically identifies new plugin updates
-
Creates Agile stories for review and testing
-
Improves environment consistency and upgrade planning

This plugin looks great, but it appears to be deprecated. It was only viable through Yokohama.
Am testing it in my Australia PDI, but the scrip no longer creates Stories. Tinkering to see if I can solve that breakage. (Also reached out to @srinija_itom via the store to see if there was an update coming.)
