Hi everyone,
We are planning to change the URL suffix of our ServiceNow Employee Center portal from /esc to /ec.
Before making this change, I would like to understand whether changing the portal URL suffix can cause any issues or unexpected behaviour.
Specifically:
1. Does changing the URL suffix from /esc to /ec affect any OOTB Employee Center functionality?
2. Could it impact portal navigation, menu configurations, widgets, page routing, or deep links?
3. Are there any dependencies on the existing /esc suffix in Service Portal configurations, scripts, properties, or integrations?
4. Will existing bookmarks, shared links, redirects, or external integrations using /esc stop working?
5. Are there any additional configurations or precautions required before making this change?
6. Has anyone successfully changed the Employee Center suffix in a production instance? If so, were there any issues after the change?
I would appreciate any documentation, community references, or real-world implementation experiences.
@Dan O Connor , @Mark Roethof could you please help me here if possible?
Thanks in advance!

Changing the Employee Center URL suffix from /esc to /ec should be possible without affecting the core OOTB functionality. The main thing I'd be careful with is anything that still references /esc directly.
I'd recommend checking your portal menus, widgets, quick links, notifications, system properties and any custom scripts for hardcoded URLs. Also check integrations if you're using them.
One important point is that existing bookmarks and shared links using /esc may stop working after the change. I'd definitely look into setting up a redirect from /esc to /ec so users don't end up with broken links. Just changing the suffix on the portal record won't automatically take care of those old URLs.
I'd suggest testing this in a subproduction instance first, especially navigation, search, catalog items, knowledge articles and links from email notifications. Also make sure /ec isn't already being used by another portal.

Hope this helps. If it does, could you mark the reply as helpful or accept it as a solution?
