Having business and application portfolio and project work across both internal and customer managed projects in one location can dramatically help Service Providers using domain separation to decrease operational costs and increase their focus on value add strategic initiatives.
In the attached paper I discuss and provide some guidance to domain separated customers looking implement ITBM Project and Portfolio Management applications.
Please download and read the attached document to get started.
NOTE: We'll be updating this paper in the post over time as future ServiceNow family releases close domain separation gaps and add new features to the products.
Some excerpts from the paper:
The three key values for a Service Providers leveraging ServiceNow IT Business Management include:
- The ability to leverage a single platform that can centralize internal demands resources and financial metrics for both:
- MSP strategic initiatives, such as new product development, digital transformation, or customer experience programs, and
- Operational work like enhancements, problems, or maintenance
- Providing the Service Providers customer visibility and an integrated approval process for their managed projects
- Aligning with customer resources on completing project tasks as a part of a Service Provider managed project
Along with the centralized management of demands, resources and financial metrics from both internal initiatives and managed service offerings to customers, Service Providers can leverage the flexibility of ServiceNow’s ITBM suite to work with customers in either a traditional waterfall project methodology or an agile/scrum methodology. This meets both internal and customer requested project management approaches from a single platform.

Marked as 'Helpful', since there's no button for 'Essential' or 'Life saving' 🙂 Thank you for sharing this.
Please consider if this whitepaper could be promoted so that it's linked in the documentation article "Domain separation in Project Portfolio Management" and similar.
