With the release of ‘Rome,’ here I compiled few best features of PPM.
Now you can create ideas as universal requests.
What does it mean to customers? Now end users can raise any kind of request like SR, Case, Idea, etc., all from a single place. Now end-users don't have to remember or go to different screens for raising the different types of requests. Now it is easy to manage and transfer the request based on the types; for customers, it definitely drives operational efficiency and cost savings.
Now you can schedule the approved start and end dates of demands without having a direct impact on the demand planned dates.
What does it mean to customers?
Approved Date: This is the must achieve date or fixed delivery date or deadline, which we should not miss in any case. This is the ultimatum set by the client. This field is highlighted with red color if the date in this field is set to a date later than the Start date field in demand (Planned start date in Project).
Planned Date: The word planned is interpreted as your planning or forecasting. The planned date can be changed because it’s planning. However, the project manager must ensure the planned date is within the approved date & complete the project work within the approved date available. Start/Due date for the demand. This date is changed to the Planned start/end date when the demand is converted to a project.
Now you can create/measure a non-monetary benefit plan for demand and Project.
What does it mean to customers?
I remember, when I have implemented PPM in geneva, my customer said we do projects more for non-monetary benefits and less for monetary benefits. A few of the non-monetary benefits we can think of are
- Safety and wellness of employees
- Brand awareness
- Better Communications
- Happy customers
Now Servicenow gives you the ability to record non-monetary benefits and baseline and measure at demand & project level.
Now you can reduce the duration of the allocated resource plan:
What does it mean to customers? Customers can reduce or extend the resource plan from a single screen (allocation workbench) without getting into individual resource plan request
Now you can create and manage operations resource plans from resource allocation workbench
What does it mean to customers? Customers can now create & manage operations resource plans too from a single screen (allocation workbench)
To achieve this, customers need to enable property: Project Administration > Settings > Properties - Resource.
Now you can restrict resource plan dates to go beyond the project or demand dates
What does it mean to customers? Customers to avoid discrepancy between project or demand dates and resource plan dates.
To achieve this, customers need to enable property: Project Administration > Settings > Properties - Resource.
Other Notable changes are :
- The benefits plan got renamed to a monetary benefit plan.
- Moving project date will move the start date of all projects except tasks that are set to start on a specific date, tasks that are closed, or work in progress.
- The report label name Planned vs. Actual Benefits is changed to Monetary Planned vs. Actual Benefits in the PMO dashboard.
- A message is displayed on the timecard form when the resource plan dates are outside the dates of the time submission week.
- View a link to access the Slack channel or MS team from the project form after the Slack channel or MS team has been created for that project.
Thank you for reading. Rome will surely benefit customers. Cheers!
