How to add custom fields to the "Configure Column" list in the Resource Management Workspace

I’m trying to add more columns to the Resource Management workspace grid. However, when I click the “Configure Column” all the fields aren’t listed.
I’ve tried changing the layout of some tables like “planning items” or “resource assignment” and then clicking “reset columns” in the workspace but it doesn’t work.
I must be missing something. Could anyone help me out?
