Hi Community,
I would like to understand the use cases for utilizing the Idea Portal vs. using Product Idea in SPW, and would like to have insight from those who have already any experience in this or from SN team.
Current :
the standard Innovation Management (IM) with the Idea Portal is being used
Intake covers everything: some are Product-specific, others are non-product related ideas - all is related to IT.
We have custom logic: Based on the Category, different approval/review flows trigger.
Successful ideas are converted into Demands or SAfe Stories, or Features.
- Simple process to convert Ideas to next objects (e.g. demands, Stories - directly from the Idea record, no record in between
We are now exploring the options to use Product Feedback/Product Idea features within the SPW.
We want to avoid a fragmented user experience where users have to guess whether to use the Idea Portal or the SPW interface.
Questions / Challenge:
Is it suggested to stick to the Idea Portal as the "Single Source of Truth" for all intake?
"Product Ideas" in SPW are intended to replace the Idea portal or the Ideas submitted via portal, those that will be related to some product, can then be visualized in the Product Ideas in SPW and then continue their lifecycle there? Or is it technically different obect with its own lifecycle?
Licensing: Idea Portal users generally don't require a license. I am concerned that moving intake to SPW might have different license implications (would the users require SPM fulfiller license in order to create /submit Product Idea?)
Questions for the group:
Has anyone successfully "mapped" standard Ideas into the SPW Product Feedback loop?
How are you handling the license gap for end-users if you use SPW for intake?
Is it possible (or advisable) to keep the Idea Portal as the UI, but have the backend create Product Feedback records / Product Ideas instead of standard Idea records?
