[SPM Workspace] Legacy or CSM Projects (pm_project) Not Loading in Portfolio Plans – Import Issue

Hi SPM Community,

We’re trying to display legacy projects (created in pm_project) inside the Strategic Planning Workspace (SPW)under Portfolio Plans, but they don’t show up.

If we create a project manually via the Advanced Planning Workspace, it syncs and appears correctly. But when trying to bulk import legacy records into sn_align_core_project, we get an “invalid payload” error.

All relevant fields (portfolio, department, strategic plan) are correctly populated. Our goal is to make all linked projects visible in EAP Portfolio Plans, without manual recreation.

Has anyone managed to import legacy or CSM projects into SPW successfully?

Any working payload formats, flow tips, or known constraints would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Fabio, did you setup the integration between execution and alignment? I think that's the best approach rather than loading the records into the execution table.

Configuring Strategic Planning with PPM, Agile 2.0, and SAFe

Make sure to populate Approved dates from projects for these to flow through on SPW and keep these dates in mind when creating the portfolio plans and the dates you're setting up then.

Review your projects first and the approved date fields to be populated (if you want to bring demands, do the same) then configure the integration and run the import from the execution side (the date you'll be prompted for the integration is the creation date of the records so go back as far as you need). After you run the import, check the Error tab as sometimes it might indicate why the records from Execution didn't cross over to Alignment. Hope this helps 🙂
