Target prediction in SPM

Hi,

We are currently using Strategic Planning Workspace (SPW) and Portfolio Plans to track Operations KPIs through Goals & Targets. Today, we see that target progression appears to be distributed linearly between the current value and the end target and we have to manually update next month's targets. What I am trying to understand is whether SPW supports a more predictive or data-driven approach to target setting, specifically:

1. Is there a way to forecast or predict month-over-month KPI targets based on historical performance data?      2.If predictive behavior is possible (even in PA), what data inputs or variables are required to enable this?

Hi Kanika,

If you are in Zurich or later and have NOW Assist for SPM (i.e Pro+) licences, then you can use a lot of advanced features to get forecasted targets for goals, we have explored this functionality for customers , who are more advanced in their maturity curve. Its not exactly as you have mentioned with creating target forecasts/predictions, but there are two current functionalities: creating target using NOW Assist or show insights which shows target forecast to some level, which can be used to at least get some data points to create targets.

As you can imagine, you need to have enough historical data with accurate targets available before forecasting and target generation can be achieved. As far as I know, This can not be tested in a PDI, since NOW Assist does not work , so need to work with your account rep for the customer account to get this feature licensed and enabled by an admin afterwards.

In the goals and targets, you can use the Show insights. You need to have the Goal insights skills available for you, which will analyze the goal, its targets, subgoals, and aligned work and create recommendations/forecast etc.

When you open it, after a while, the Insights by Now Assist pane shows the insights for the goal including AI forecasted status, confidence of achieving the goal, targets at risk, delayed or stalled aligned work and recommendations.

Best practice: we should always use the AI-generated insights with a grain of salt and ensure review by the team responsible to continue identifying risk, assess forecasted statuses, and act on recommendations before goals fall off track.

The idea to use PA to generate such forecast is actually nice, but PA itself can not create those forecasted targets, so this idea needs further exploring.

Please let me know if you have any q.

Nil
