Tips for the CSA Exam (Certified System Administrator)
CSA is the first and foundational exam in your ServiceNow journey. Here are some tips to help you prepare effectively:
-
Study the training material thoroughly – Go through it line by line, word by word, at least 2–3 times.
-
Practice the labs multiple times – Do each lab 3–4 times. Don’t just complete them; carefully read and understand the instructions as well.
-
Follow the official eBook – Review it thoroughly at least 2–3 times to reinforce your understanding.
-
Consider supplementary courses – Some candidates have found Udemy courses helpful for additional practice and clarity. I

I am sharing my experience for anyone preparing.
In my opinion, the CSA exam is not very difficult if you have some hands-on ServiceNow experience and have gone through the official CSA training/course material. I would also recommend practicing questions online to get familiar with the type and wording of questions you may encounter.
A few questions that I remember seeing or that are useful to practice:
Q1. What is the result of the order in which Access Controls are evaluated?
Answer: Ensure the user has access to a table before evaluating access to a field in the table.
Q2. What is the name of the string that displays filter criteria?
Answer: Breadcrumb.
Q3. What process allows users to create, categorize, review, approve, and browse important information in a centralized location shared by the organization?
Answer: Knowledge Management.
Q4. What are three key tables in the Enterprise CMDB?
Answer: CMDB_REL_CI, CI, and CMDB_CI.
Q5. Which tab on the Knowledge Base record identifies the set of users who are able to read articles in that knowledge base?
Answer: Can Read.
Q6. What is used to determine user access to Knowledge Bases or Knowledge Articles?
Answer: User Criteria.
Q7. What is the best practice related to using the Default Update Set for moving customizations between instances?
Answer: You should not use the Default Update Set for moving customizations between instances.
If you have practical ServiceNow experience and understand the core concepts—tables, ACLs, applications, lists/forms, update sets, notifications, workflows/flows, Knowledge, CMDB, users/roles, etc.—the exam becomes much easier.
All the best for your CSA preparation!

Shivanshu

ahoy @adeoyeahmed,
the only official materials are with MeasureUp partnership: [GF#9] ServiceNow exams preparations with MeasureUp (CSA, CAD, CIS DF, ITSM, CSM, RC, SPM)
Everything else is unofficial and cannot be considered trusted. There are many dumps or flip cards but it's full of errors and when you learn from these and then fail (it can happen), then who's to blame? You who prepared from unofficial materials or unknown anonym on internet? 😛
