Seeking Guidance on HR Gold Build Development

Hello ServiceNow Community,

 

I'm developing a Gold Build for HR processes based on our internal delivery framework and could use some expert advice.

What I've Done:

  • Studied our internal implementation methodology (DGEM)
  • Created acceptance criteria for key HR processes:
    • Manage Knowledge
    • Manage HR Helpdesk
    • Manage Operations
  • Started developing workbooks using templates from Now Create, including:
    • Employee Center - Unified Taxonomy Workbook (for taxonomy)
    • HRSD - Product Workbook - HR Service Requirements (for each process separately Knowledge, HR Helpdesk and Manage Operations)
    • HRSD Workbook - HR Services Requirements for Implementations (general document)

Where I'm Stuck:

  1. I'm uncertain if my documentation provides enough detail for developers to implement this Gold Build for new clients
  2. I don't have clear guidelines on how comprehensive the Gold Build should be
  3. I'm struggling to scale up from my previous smaller-scale experience with acceptance criteria

What I Need Help With:

  1. Has anyone created a similar HR Gold Build? What approach worked for you?
  2. Are the Now Create templates I'm using sufficient, or should I be using additional resources?
  3. How detailed should acceptance criteria be for developers to successfully implement the Gold Build?
  4. What common mistakes should I avoid when creating reusable HR process documentation?

I appreciate any guidance, examples, or feedback that could help me ensure this Gold Build will serve as a solid foundation for future implementations.

As a BPC, I believe what you've done so far is valid and a good starting point. Since you mentioned you're stuck — and as per ServiceNow’s recommendation — it's best to refer to Now Create when that happens.

Now Create contains documentation and lifecycle guidance following the Crawl–Walk–Run–Fly model. You’ll find process workflows and implementation guides that can help you move forward more clearly.

So my suggestion is to go through the Now Create Success Pack and explore the related assets and methodology — that should give you the direction you need.

Since you mentioned you're a BPC, I'm curious if you have any personal experience creating Gold Builds for HR processes? If so, were there specific templates or documents from Now Create that you found particularly valuable for standardizing requirements across implementations?
