We had a card in the software swimlane assignment group. We moved it to hardware for some reason, at that time i don't want to see the swimlane Software as it don't have any cards.
please suggest here.
Thanks & Regards,

HI @BokkalaS
Out of the box (OOTB), the swimlane will be displayed even if there are no cards in it. I believe this is the expected behavior, and I wouldn’t recommend changing it. It’s more about educating end users on how it works

Thank you for your quick response on this.
Actually, we tried to convince the user to remove swimlane which has zero cards from the configuration, but they are not agreeing to it.
is there any way to hide the swimlane with zero cards by doing any customizations, Please suggest.
Thank You in Advance,
Sravani Bokkala.

Hi @BokkalaS
I don’t really like the word “customization” because what you do today can turn into technical debt for the client tomorrow. If you ask me, almost anything is possible in ServiceNow if we don’t set boundaries. But here, let’s keep the scope realistic and stick to what’s already provided.
For example, if you need to build a Business Rule (BR) to check each swimlane and hide it when there are no cards, that’s doable. We have similar logic in our related lists when there’s no incident or change. You could either build some code or handle it manually—whichever fits best. The key is to avoid unnecessary customizations that can cause maintenance issues later.

I think, in ServiceNow Visual Task Boards (VTB), there is currently no built-in (automatic) functionality to hide swimlanes that have no cards—empty swimlanes will remain visible by default (it is OOTB functionality). However, you can manually hide unwanted swimlanes through the board configuration.
1) Open VTB board
2) Click the Configuration icon at the top right side corner.
3) Click Advanced Settings at the right side bottom.
4) In Lane Configuration select Swimlanes
5) Uncheck the unwanted Swimlanes and close it
