I recently noticed that when I search for things, if there is a quick link, it shows which pages it is connected to.

I know this has to do with the quick link living in the connected content of that topic record.

However, I went in yesterday to remove the connected quick links on some pages, and when I did, a few of the topics disappeared from my topic pages in the subtopic widget. Do we know what causes that or ways to get around having to have a connected piece of content in the topic record for it to flow to the subtopics widget?

In the past, I had this issue when there was not anything active associated with the topic. In other words, there needs to be at least 1 published / valid *something*, like a knowledge article, catalog item, quick link, rich content, etc. to the topic in order for it to be visible.

So I guess if I choose a knowledge article to put in the connected content instead of a quick link, what will that truly affect?
