Meet Anurag Tripathi !
We recently had the opportunity to talk with one of the Community's Leading Top Contributor and Community MVP, Anurag Tripathi
"I challenge you. Answer 2 questions a week for the next quarter!!"
How did your career evolve?
I hold a masters degree in Computer Applications (MCA). I started my career back in 2011 fresh out of university and started on C# but shortly moved to Java. In the start of 2012 I was actually tricked to get on a dev project on ServiceNow saying 'It is the next big thing'. Once on-board I started enjoying it. Before that I had no clue what ServiceNow is, glad that I got into this.
What do you do now? What is your favorite part of using ServiceNow
I am Technical Specialist by designation playing a role of Lead Developer/Architect for an On Premise ServiceNow Instance.
I love the versatility of the tool, there is always so much more to learn. ServiceNow is evolving very fast.
How did you get involved with the ServiceNow Community?
I have always been big advocate of helping others and sharing knowledge. I used to help my team and other people from my organization when approached. I used to follow SNGuru all the time and then I saw mark.stanger on the community and I wanted to become like him.
How do you work the community into your day?
I always log in to the community first thing in the morning. I have it open in a parallel tab and depending on the time I get, if I do, I jump on and answer a few questions or just read the threads/blogs. The mobile app has really helped in commute, weekends or nights.
What motivates you to participate? Why do you do it?
It's not always the case that I know the answer to the question then only I reply. I try find out the answer if I don't know already. It adds to my knowledge also knowing what kind of issues people face.
Also, there have been moments when people approached me saying 'Hey, I have seen your post on the community', 'Hey, I recognize you from community' and sometimes 'Are you the same person I saw on community?' ….It's good to walk into a room when your reputation precedes you.
How else do you participate?
I do conduct Knowledge sharing sessions and trainings in my organization. Attend the NowForum London. Hopefully ill make it to Knowledge conference next year.
Where do you spend your time in the community?
Mostly on the items in my inbox and recent posts. I do read blogs in free time.
Big fan of Slightly Looney's blog. Not to mention Steve Bell's too.
You're very generous with your time. Why do you do it?
I do get to learn a lot form the community and it's a good feeling when I am able to help anyone who needs it. That's enough motivation for me.
Do you have any stand-out / memorable experiences with ServiceNow?
All the awards and recognitions I have received here. I have 2 Community Leader and 1 MVP Award along with 1 most Likes Monthly award.
Is there a specific product and/or feature that you just can't believe you ever lived without?
Impersonation. Makes life so easy to reproduce issues, role based testing etc.
What inspired you to start answering in addition to asking?
Strangely, I started by answering only. I have asked very few questions till date.
What would you say to encourage your peers to participate more?
I challenge you. Answer 2 questions a week for the next quarter!!
Any thoughts for your peers who are thinking about becoming more active in the Community?
If you are running after points then you will exhaust soon and give up. I have seen many people who start big but give up soon. Do good work, points will come automatically. Being an active member I know, any members who are not big on points but their smartness and knowledge is unmatched and it can be judged by few replies itself.
Any suggestions to fellow members to make the community even better?
When someone is helping you, make sure you appreciate the time and effort they are putting. So many times people just walk off after getting what they are looking for.
What advice would you give to someone who wanted a nudge to start contributing?
Points can be cashed, didn't you know? LOL, on a serious note: Just register and browse around. I am sure you will hit like on things you like and reply to one.
Any other interesting tidbits, stories, hobbies you'd like to share?
I am a big movie and serials fan. I do love to travel and see new places. Covered almost complete UK in 2016, intend to see rest of Europe in 2017 #traveldiaries.
