Meet Community MVP...

Göran Lundqvist

Hello Göran!  So tell us a little on how you got started in your career and when was ServiceNow introduced to you?

I have been working in the IT industry for almost 20 years. I started with the heroes in the ServiceDesk and the first line (of defense). Over the years, I worked with everything from Server administration, ITIL process owner, manager, and more. I met ServiceNow in 2014 and became a customer. From there, I felt that this was what I wanted to do.

How did your career evolve?

I started as many others, a customer to ServiceNow and system administrator. After having that role for about 1,5 years, I felt that I wanted to work more as a consultant at a partner. The main reason for this was that I wanted to experience what the platform had to offer and see how others were using the platform. After a while, I also took the role of a trainer and started to teach ServiceNow courses. It was not the primary assignment, but 1-2 classes a month to break from the everyday routines and meet new people. In April 2019, I got the opportunity to join ServiceNow as a Developer, and that is where I am today, and I love every second of it.

find_real_file.pngHow did you get involved with the ServiceNow Community?

The Community was something I got in touch with very quickly when I started my journey in the ServiceNow world. I have always been a fan of communities and forums, and sadly I had an awful experience with our old tool and its forum. That was a place where people didn't share solutions and barely answered any questions. Coming to ServiceNow Community was an eyeopener. It worked just like it should. People are helping each other, and everyone feels equal.

You're very generous with your time. What inspired you to start answering in addition to asking?

My inspiration started outside of the ServiceNow community. I have friends who are very active within the Microsoft community and MVPs in their domain. Seeing how they are helping people set the foundation on how I wanted to be. In the beginning, it's kind of logical that you always ask questions, but after getting all the friendly help, it just became obvious that I wanted to help people out if I could. And seeing how happy people get and appreciate the time you spend helping them is the fuel for me to keep going.

Is there a specific product and/or feature that you just can't believe you ever lived without?

For those who know me, I think the answer is easy. I would say flow designer without any doubts. Since it came out many releases ago, I always have it as my first choice when creating something. It so simple to use, and you can build so much functionality quickly and without code (which in my eyes often leads to more debugging, administration, and time consuming).

Thank you, Göran!
