Meet Community MVP...

Sachin Namjoshi

Hello Sachin So tell us a little on how you got started in your career and when was ServiceNow introduced to you?

imageI started my career as Core JAVA, JavaScript developer where I was working on supporting, enhancing existing enterprise applications. After working as JAVA developer for few years, I worked as a BMC Remedy Developer, Architect which introduced me to ITSM world. I was responsible for developing service request, CMDB and ITSM product features for legacy BMC Remedy platform as Product Developer for few years. I got introduced with ServiceNow in 2013, when I was working as Implementation Consultant for a Gold ServiceNow technology partner. I initially started on support projects for few months and then I eventually moved to implementing ITSM, PPM, Discovery, CSM, and Service Portal across different domains. I also worked in different roles like Developer, Consultant, Architect for various implementation projects on ServiceNow Platform.

What do you do now? What is your favorite part of using the ServiceNow?

I currently work as ServiceNow SME where I work on implementing HR Service Delivery, Service Portal Development, Integrations for a big tech company. I like the evolution of ServiceNow features with every release. My favorite parts are rapid app development capability and integrating ServiceNow with various enterprise platforms like Workday, Salesforce etc. to provide quality business value to customers with sustained growth.

How did your career evolve?

I started on ServiceNow maintenance projects back in Berlin version. After working for few months as Engineer, I eventually started Working as App Developer for a big Healthcare Company where I worked on implementing ITSM, Service Portal, PPS Suite, Discovery, FSM modules. Also, I developed few custom apps and also worked on various upgrades cross different versions till Paris version. I moved eventually to work as ServiceNow Architect for Gold Partner company to provide guidance in upcoming implementations across different business domains like Healthcare, Banking, Insurance, Retails clients.

find_real_file.pngHow did you get involved with the ServiceNow Community?

I initially started to look for answers on community for best practices. After getting some experience with few implementations, I started contributing as Solution Provider on Community to help users across different topics.

You're very generous with your time. What inspired you to start answering in addition to asking?

I love the ServiceNow Platform and I want maximum users across the globe to realize full potential of platform features. Another motivation is sometimes I learn new features on platform while answering questions on community.

How do you work the community into your day?

I make sure that I spend at least 2-3 hours a day on community irrespective of my work schedule.

Where do you spend your time in the community?

I spend most of time in scripting, development, integrations, PPS, Discovery, GRC, CSM, FSM,Service Portal, Performance Analytics, NOW Mobile App topics in community.

What would you say to encourage your peers to participate more?

Plan to spend some time every day in community to answer questions to help yourself. There are various areas on the platform which everyone can master by answering questions related to different topics.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted a nudge to start contributing?

Start in your strong areas and you will see that you can master unexplored areas on platform which will help you in your career.

Any other advice to share with those just starting on their journey with ServiceNow?

Get Active on community, watch videos based on your interest, ask questions.

Do you have any stand-out / memorable experiences with ServiceNow?

I was tasked to convince a customer to migrate their legacy Service Management Platform to ServiceNow. It was a long effort of many weeks and implementing different POCs. The customer’s major pain point with their legacy platform was upgrades. The upgrades were taking months which consumed their resources and upgrades always had issues. The customer threw the challenge at me to take their just one heavily customized Incident Management module as POC and build it on ServiceNow from scratch. I implemented OOB ServiceNow ITSM features wherever possible to avoid their customizations and gave them a Demo so that they compare their legacy IM with ServiceNow IM features. I still had to accept their 40% customizations in incident management and build them on ServiceNow instance. The customer initially liked OOB ServiceNow features and performance over their legacy platform. But they were still not sure about how upgrade will work on ServiceNow. I upgraded their ServiceNow instance and it took just few hours to upgrade their instance as compared to months with their legacy platform. This really helped to migrate the customer from legacy platform to ServiceNow.

Is there a specific product and/or feature that you just can't believe you ever lived without?

Guided App Creator, Flow Designer, Studio are one of few features on platform.

Do you have a favorite piece of content in the community?

I like TechNow content which I use some 3times to understand new features on upcoming releases.

What motivates you to participate? Why do you do it?

The first reason is the recognition of being an MVP. It helped me in my career a lot. Another reason, I explore new features when I am on community. If someone asks a question which I am not aware, I figure out the answer and that helps me to learn that new feature.

Any other interesting tidbits, stories, hobbies you'd like to share?

I always like to learn new things. Currently, I am learning to play guitar since music helps me to focus and keep my mind alert.

Thank you, Sachin!
