From Curious Beginner to ServiceNow Architect: The ServiceNow Journey That Changed My Life

When I first heard about ServiceNow, I didn’t know what to make of it.

I wasn’t from a ServiceNow background. I wasn’t even from a traditional tech background. But something about the platform caught my attention — the way it connects systems, automates workflows, and makes real impact inside organizations. I had no roadmap back then. Just curiosity, a few scattered tutorials, and the desire to build something that mattered.

So, I started.

I remember the first time I logged into a ServiceNow instance. The interface was overwhelming. Tables, ACLs, forms, scripts — I clicked around cautiously, breaking things accidentally, fixing them through guesswork and Google searches. But that was the magic of it. Every mistake taught me something. Every fix gave me confidence.

Eventually, I earned my CSA certification. That was a turning point. Not because of the certificate itself, but because for the first time, I felt like I belonged here.

Then came the scripting phase. I wrote my first GlideRecord query, built my first Business Rule, and saw how powerful the platform could be when you combine logic with creativity. I wasn’t just following steps anymore — I was building.

As I grew, I chose my focus: ITSM and later, ITOM. I pursued certifications like CIS-ITSM, dove deep into CMDB structuring and discovery patterns, and began to work with clients directly. Real projects. Real pressure. Real transformation.

Then, somewhere along the way, I realized I was no longer “figuring things out.” I was helping others figure it out. I was leading design decisions, coaching junior devs, and explaining platform strategies in boardrooms. I had become an architect.

But I didn’t stop there.

Today, I share what I’ve learned — through my YouTube channel, my platform iLearnTech, and the stories of people I’ve mentored along the way. Because I know how valuable a roadmap is when you're just starting out.

So, I made one.

I created a video that walks through the full ServiceNow Career Journey Roadmap — the exact path I followed, broken into stages:

  • From laying the foundation with CSA

  • To experimenting as a Tinkerer, building and breaking things

  • To becoming a Specialist in a domain like ITSM or ITOM

  • To thinking like an Architect, designing scalable systems

  • To stepping up as a Leader, guiding projects and people

  • To finally giving back as a Multiplier — through education, innovation, and community

If you’re at the beginning of your journey, or stuck somewhere in the middle — this roadmap is for you.

You don’t have to figure it out alone — I didn’t.
And now I’m here to help you find your path too.
