The real definition of what success means tends to get lost due to many factors such as: handoffs between teams, individual goals, or overall lack of clarity. It's absolutely crucial for all individuals involved with the initiative to not only be aware of their own tactical definition of success, but also be aware of what the real definition of success means, which sits at the strategic level.
Having this multi-dimensional depth of knowledge is what I like to call: "success awareness" and this is what will help ensure value is realized and your project team achieves ultimate success in your delivery.
