I assumed ownership for ServiceNow leadership in 1/1/2018. Also assumed process ownership for PPM within IT at company. Small team. 1 system admin supporting IT mgrs. who own using ServiceNow for their process areas of Help Desk, CMDB, etc. With consultant PPM was implemented last year but has some bugs and didn't have good understanding of OOB and/or intended use of functionality. Need a reset for PPM and ITSM. First training for myself and 1st for our system admin.

While using Demand, we use the DEFER button to say...we want to do it, but just not right now due to budget/resource constraints. But sometimes, we have Demands that we need to cancel. OOB, how can you cancel/kill a demand, without deleting the record? Why isn't the Cancel button an OOB function?

Hello,
Looking to get a few questions answers to understand the PPM module and how it has helped hurt your org. We are looking to do a enterprise wide portfolio management tool and want to see if PPM is the tool since we are already leveraging SNOW for Demand, release and change.
Will the PPM Module work in a decentralized IT Organization?
Within 6Mos after golive what dissatisfaction did you or your company have?
How much process reengineering work did you do to get the tool to work?
Any feedback would be great appreciated

A project state is changed to "Work in Progress" when;
- the project itself starts, or
- the first project task starts.

Will the PPM Module work in a decentralized IT Organization? If all use it and follow the same processes.
Within 6Mos after golive what dissatisfaction did you or your company have? Training for users needed to be more comprehensive and with hands-on labs with data that was relevant. Relied too much on a system integrator and did not know enough about how the system was designed out of the box to know if we were making good decisions which has resulted in re-work.
How much process reengineering work did you do to get the tool to work? We mainly modified PPM to work in our process. This may have been a mistake as we are not utilizing it as much as we should be.

Thank you for this feedback! Much appreciated
Can I ask if you were already doing a heavy amount of portfolio management, resource planning or key processes before using PPM tool. Just want to get a sense if doing this implementation made it worse before it got better? or where there instant results/benefits.

Using the "Create Project" UI Action from a Demand will default the Calculation type to 'manual'. This is a setting in the 'DemandToProjectCreationHelper' script include (line 32 Baseline) that sets this setting.
By Default, the Calculation is set to "Automatic" on a "New" project record.

Do you see a lot of "Start on" vs. "Start ASAP" tasks? Any examples you could share?
My experience on best practice has been to have all tasks (except first task) with a start date + duration unless there is a non-Finish-to-Start relationship.
