Yeah was hoping to not "customize"... cause that can get one in trouble if you customize some stuff allot. Thank you 🙂

Sounds like a good idea. if you do not want to create your own UI action you can submit an enahnchment request and maybe it will be in a future patch

Hello:
IT PM with the City of Raleigh (NC).
Interested in meeting others from a local or state government and learning how you've implement the PPM module.
Also, any WorkFront users???

usually you should see "system admin" specifically where it meant.
Could you help me locating any instance in the book where it is confusing?

The project manager must create the tasks and relationships as a best practice.

Any user with permission to create tasks. It is not limited to the assigned Project manager.

Hey Bill.
For the last 5 years I have worked with one of the state government agencies in Ohio. They are doing some things with PPM (although more fully on the Agile Development side than Project), and also work projects in WorkFront. Their Product Owner is here at K18 presenting for one session, so I can probably introduce you to her depending on your schedules, or you can search for her session (Renee Evans is her name). They are heavier users of other aspects of ServiceNow (ITSM, ITOM, etc.) but do still have some perspective to share on ITBM and PPM.
Let me know if you want to try to connect with her...sometimes schedules get crazy here, but if it doesn't work out during the conference I'm sure we can get you in touch afterward.

Do these components act like widgets that you can move around and add / remove?

Is there any way to show or link to a RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrix for tasks, projects, programs, or portfolios?

I'm not aware of a way OOTB to this, other than creating a Project Template with your RACI documentation attached. It would then be available to all Projects using that template.

Is there a way to copy a project or portfolio from one ServiceNow instance to another, assuming people, roles, etc... are the same?

I'm assuming you are referring to the project workspace, in the summary tab? It shows you the reports like widgets in the dashboards, but you cannot move it or add/remove reports as you can do it in any dashboards.
But you can do it inside a project administration record, which would require you to have some scripting knowledge.

Maybe the easiest way would be to export to MS Project from Instance 1, and then import from MS Project into Instance 2?
You can easily export the individual pieces of the project (project form, project tasks, etc.) to XML, and then import them into the other instance. But if your project uses a lot of the related lists at the bottom of the project form, you would have to individually export each list/table to XML and import one at a time (since each piece is stored in a different table). Not hard but kind of time consuming.

By default is it the PM?

It would generally be the PM, as they would be the one setting up the project. However any other users with the PM role that can access the project could create tasks.

Automatic or manual is at the project level not at a task level? So I can't set a task within an automated project to a manual date?

That's correct - the setting is applied at the project level and applies to all tasks associated with the project.

If we don't get through the material, is there a way we can get extended access to the training instance to complete the labs on our own time?

The training instances can not be extended as scheduled to be terminated after few hours after the sessions.
But you can always perform the labs on your personal development instance provided by service now for free.
Let us know, if you required any further information on accessing the development instance.

Take a look at the Web Service articles in docs:
https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/kingston-application-development/page/integrate/web-services/refe...
ServiceNow comes with a whole suite of integration points. One of the easiest ways to integrate is when using the REST API Explorer:

I'd like a copy of the powerpoint used by the instructors during the session. The screen shots are clearer than what's in the book. can a soft copy be made available? Or is there already one out there?
