This post shares learning notes from troubleshooting lab validation issues encountered while working through the Forms module in the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. It focuses on common error messages you may encounter if the validation fails.
Note: Some labs assume you are continuing from previous modules and still impersonating Platform User, even if this is not explicitly stated in the task instructions.
This task is sort and sweet, and the aim is to provide you with hands-on experience of the concepts covered in the Forms Lesson content including:
- Menu navigation
- Creating and saving a Problem (PRB) record
- Creating a favorite
Below are some of the error messages that may be presented when trying to validate the task
- Did you create the Problem with the given values?
This error relates to step 2 of the task instructions. The simulator will be looking for an exact match in your instance so it's key to ensure that you have:
* selected the correct options and do not have any spelling mistakes
* only amended the field specified in the task instructions
My advice here is to copy and paste the 'Problem statement' and 'Description' but be cautious of any trailing spaces that might get added. - Did you create a favorite for the Problem record?
This error is specific to steps 4-6 in the task instructions. Make sure you create a favorite for the Problem record itself and NOT the Problem module.
These notes reflect my experience troubleshooting lab validation errors while working through this task and form part of a series documenting common lab validation errors encountered while completing the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. As I continue building my skills as a Junior Developer, I hope these posts help other learners navigate similar challenges. If you've encountered additional pitfalls, feel free to comment and share them below.
