With the release of another ServiceNow version...comes the season to clone over your instances. For some organizations, this could be their very first clone and for some ServiceNow professionals, this could ALSO be their very first clone. Commonly, only 1 or 2 people are responsible for cloning (usually senior system administrators) and most others don't really know what's all involved.

Regardless of if you're responsible for cloning or not...EVERYONE should be aware of the process, how to request a clone, how to preserve data and exclude tables, and the importance of backing up development.
