Hi,

When ever I share any achievement to the LinkedIn. The link redirects to someone else's ServiceNow Resume.

I have tried to edit my resume as well but still facing same issue. Please help!

Thanks & Regards

🔍Problem Summary (What’s Actually Happening)

  • You share an achievement/certification on LinkedIn

  • The shared post automatically adds a ServiceNow resume link

  • Clicking that link redirects to someone else’s ServiceNow resume

  • Even after editing your resume, the issue persists

This feels scary—but it’s a platform-mapping problem, not a data breach.

🧠 Root Cause (The Real Reason)

The issue is caused by a misalignment between LinkedIn and ServiceNow’s public credential system.

What ServiceNow Actually Uses

ServiceNow certifications and achievements are managed via:

  • Webassessor / Now Learning

  • Public Candidate ID

  • Resume slug generated from email + profile mapping

If any of the following are true, the redirect can break:

  1. Your LinkedIn email ≠ ServiceNow Now Learning email

  2. Your email was previously used by another candidate

  3. Your resume slug was cached incorrectly

  4. LinkedIn is pulling an old or wrong credential URL

  5. ServiceNow resume link is globally shared, not user-unique

👉Result: LinkedIn links to a valid resume, just not yours.

🚨Why Editing Your Resume Doesn’t Fix It

This is the most important part:

Editing the resume content does not regenerate the public resume URL

The URL itself remains mapped to the original candidate record.

So:

  • Resume text changes

  • Resume ownership unchanged

  • LinkedIn still redirects incorrectly

Step-by-Step Fix (Do These in Order)

Step 1: Verify Your ServiceNow Email (Critical)

Log into:

  • Now Learning

  • Webassessor

Confirm:

  • Primary email = same email used on LinkedIn

  • No secondary/old email exists

If emails don’t match → LinkedIn maps incorrectly.

Step 2: Stop Using “Add Certification” Auto-Link on LinkedIn (Temporarily)

When sharing achievements:

  • Do NOT use LinkedIn’s “Add certification” flow

  • Share as a plain text post

  • Remove any auto-generated ServiceNow links

This avoids the broken resolver.

Step 3: Manually Share the Correct Resume Link

Go to your ServiceNow resume page:

  • Copy the exact public resume URL

  • Open it in incognito

  • Confirm it shows your profile

Then paste that link manually into LinkedIn.

Step 4: Raise a Case with ServiceNow (Only Permanent Fix)

You must contact ServiceNow Support / Now Learning Support and ask for:

Resume URL re-mapping / Candidate ID correction

Provide them:

  • Your full name

  • Registered email(s)

  • LinkedIn profile URL

  • Incorrect resume URL

  • Screenshot of wrong redirect

This is a backend fix only ServiceNow can do.

Typical resolution time: 3–5 business days

What Will NOT Fix This (Save Your Time)

Action Why It Fails

Editing resume textURL mapping unchanged
Deleting LinkedIn postCache persists
Reposting immediatelyLinkedIn reuses metadata
Clearing browser cacheIssue is server-side
Creating new resume contentSame candidate ID

🧠 Strong, Honest Opinion

ServiceNow’s public resume linking is:

  • Not uniquely tokenized

  • Not real-time synced with LinkedIn

  • Prone to legacy email collisions

This is far more common than people admit—especially for early-career professionals and PDIs users.

You’re not alone.

🛡️ Best Practice Going Forward

  • Share certifications as text + image

  • Add resume link manually

  • Verify links in incognito before posting

  • Avoid LinkedIn’s auto-certification resolver

This keeps your credibility protected.

Hi @mydivyanshu,

can you please describe how do you share your achievements on LinkedIn - manually or via Credly or how exactly?

@BeingKhan, are you sure that unvalidated AI nonsense full of incorrect details will help anyone? :))))

If there’s something factually incorrect in what I shared, please point it out — I’m always open to correcting or improving content.

Repeating generic remarks about “AI” without calling out a single concrete issue doesn’t really help anyone reading this thread.
