Hi my name is Amy Rothenberger. I work for University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. My job title is Process Specialist and I'm one of the System Administrators for ServiceNow. My organization went live with ServiceNow ITSM suite in November 2017 so I've been working on the platform since about spring of that year when we started developing our instance. I've been working with JavaScript on and off for about 14 years so I would consider myself as Intermediate.
For fun, I like to go camping with my husband and 3 dogs. We just bought a new camper this year and are excited to start using it next weekend!

Morning! My name is Satya Miller, I live in Austin, TX and I'm a contractor for the federal government. I have been working with Remedy for 16 years. Found out about a month ago that management has decided we're switching to ServiceNow. I touched Service Now for the first time about 10 days ago where I took the Foundation class and attended the Knowledge 18 conference. Looking forward to learning as much as possible.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with husband and kids.

Hello, My name is...
Kristopher Jordy, I'm an Applications Analyst with Memorial Hermann Healthcare in Houston, Texas primarily doing hardware asset management and catalog development.
I've been using ServiceNow since around October, 2016 when we migrated from BMC Remedy. I still consider myself a beginner/intermediate with Javascript, but slowly getting more comfortable with it.

...QUESTION...
from Shawn Xu to All Participants:
Question on the Javascript standard. CodeCademy 's instruction is on ES6 and our course ebook said ServiceNow supports ES5 standard. As someone that is new to javascript, I get confused which syntax is ES5 Vs. ES6 standard. Any recommendation on the best practice to use javascript standards in ServiceNow?

In lab 2.5, the additional line I added checks if the email and 2 new lines already exist in the description before adding it to prevent it from being added multiple times. This is just a basic example of how to check for the existence of content before doing something.
Note: The .indexOf() method searches for a plain string where the .search() method uses regex allowing more advances searches including case insensitive.
function checkUserInfo(reqBy){
// Only update description with the requesters email if it's not already been added.
if (desc.indexOf(reqBy.email+"\n\n")==-1){
g_form.setValue('description', reqBy.email + "\n\n" + desc);
}
}

Anyone has use the Xplore Developer ToolKit before? Saw this useful toolkit when browsing around the SN community website today. Looks like a awesome tool for us to test our scripts before actually applying it to ServiceNow (and not worry about killing you computer by running into an infinite loop).
- Similar to background script in SN but better
- Output, User data, Table hierarchy, and logs all in one place
- FREE! - One update set install download from share.servicenow.com
