Hello all,
Good news – I’m officially a Certified Implementation Specialist – Service Provider. I’ve just passed Service Provider CIS certification exam for Paris release.
This is to throw some light on how it works and how to prep for it. Enjoy!
My background going into the exam
On the exam day I was going on almost 2 years of experience with ServiceNow. I had Certified System Administrator, Certified Implementation Specialist for Discovery and a fair number of micro-certifications under my belt.
I’d gone through all recommended and mandatory NowLearning courses - as per CIS- Service Provider Certification Test Prep path which include:
- Domain Separation Basics - Link to the Course.
- Service Provider Architecture - Link to the Course.
- Domain Separation Implementation - Link to the Course.
- Domain Separation Implementation Simulator - Link to the Course.
Upon completion, of the Domain Separation Implementation Course candidate will be eligible to collect a voucher for the Certified Implementation • Specialist – Service Provider exam.

Exam basics
The exam takes 90 minutes.
There are 45 questions.
You can take and an online proctored or on-site exam.
Key resources to better understand and prepare for the exam:
- CIS Service Provider Exam Blueprint (Link)
It offer a wealth of practical information, e.g. sample questions and breakdown of questions by application area. There is no better way to structure exam prep than around these documents.
Key resources
Two main things worked for me:
- Practical experience with the Domain Separated Instance during the client engagement.
- Training courses specially the Domain Separation Implementation Simulator & Domain Separation Implementation.
Additional Recourses
After completing the recommended path you can go through the ServiceNow documentation.
What to focus on
You’ll have a reasonable probability of passing CIS Service Provider if you have a good grasp of the following areas:
- Domain Hierarchy
- Data Separation
- Process Separation
- Visibility Control
- Domain Scoping
- Domain Configuration Module
- Best Practices while implementing Domain Separation
Good luck!
Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions.

Update:
While Completing the Mandatory Courses sometimes there would be a sync Issue between the SABACLOUD & NowLearning.
You will experience that courses on sabacloud will be marked successful but in NowLearning it will still show Pending Registration.
For the remediation please click on "Help" and then "Submit a support case", SN support will help you.

Thanks so much for this Aman! I pushed my exam out but will be taking it shorty.
So this is helpful. I too work on dom. separated instance so any tips on the questions and types of questions to study for is most helpful.
