Dashboard "Print Friendly" / PDF Export Layout Issue - Widgets Stacking Post-Upgrade to Yokohama

Dear ServiceNow Support Team,

 

We are experiencing an issue with the "Print Friendly" and "Export to PDF" functionality for our dashboards in Platform Analytics. When attempting to print or export a dashboard, all widgets, lists, tables, and graphs are stacking one on top of the other, rather than respecting the defined dashboard layout (e.g., columns, rows).

 

What is happening :
Upon selecting "Print Friendly" or "Export to PDF" for our dashboard, the generated output (either in the browser's print preview or the exported PDF) displays all dashboard elements in a single vertical column, completely disregarding the configured multi-column or grid layout of the dashboard.

 

What we want:
Prior to our upgrade to the Yokohama release, the "Print Friendly" / "Export to PDF" function successfully maintained the dashboard's visual layout, including the positioning of widgets in their respective columns and rows, providing a true representation of the on-screen dashboard. We expect the printed/exported version to reflect the dashboard's design.

It might be patch issue as I am at patch3 and you at patch 5. Better log a case for this mate.

This is a known issue with the ServiceNow Yokohama release affecting Performance Analytics and Dashboards.

 

Root Cause:

In Yokohama (and some late versions of Utah), ServiceNow deprecated the legacy PDF export engine used for classic dashboards and introduced changes in “Print Friendly” behavior.

The new print/export mechanism renders dashboard widgets in a single column flow for accessibility and responsive design, but this breaks the multi-column layout in printed outputs.

 

Currently, there is no out-of-the-box “fix” yet.

 

However, you have the following options:

 

Use Dashboard Snapshot (Recommended Workaround)

1. Go to the Dashboard.

2. Click Dashboard Settings > Snapshot.

3. Choose:

Download as Image (PNG, JPG)

Download as PDF (Snapshot PDF) – this retains the layout.
