I want it know if you are able to survive with out of box role contract_manager or customised it to have more roles?

I implemented Contract Management without needing to create any additional roles.

Have you assigned those roles to contract owners and contract administrators or just contract administrators?
My business requirement is : Contract owners should be able to see only their contracts and not all the contracts
