The Logical Connections feature in the Telecommunications Network Inventory application enables agents to design and assign logical connections based on customer design requests. Design and Assign Function Layout and Features
- Activity Picker: Displays a list of activities to complete the logical connection design, with status indicators for work in progress, completed, pending, or skipped activities. Selecting an activity shows its details.
- Activity Viewer: The main workspace where agents perform tasks to complete the selected activity. This panel can be collapsed for convenience.
- Activity Cards: Provide detailed information and fields necessary for each activity, such as configuring endpoints or setting attributes, enabling agents to perform required tasks efficiently.
- Network Diagram: Visually represents the logical connection circuit, updating dynamically as activities are completed. It offers an expandable view to examine connection elements in detail, with tooltips displaying full element names.
Design and Assign Workflow
The workflow for designing and assigning a logical connection involves the following key steps:
- Create a change request and input design details.
- Specify connection parameters such as logical connection model, bandwidth, and domain.
- Select endpoints including network sites and interfaces for connection start and end points.
- Choose connection elements between endpoints.
- Define a protection path for redundancy.
- Select number elements like VLAN or LAG.
- Assign an IP address.
- Review the design and submit for approval.
Completing these steps generates a logical connection record along with associated Configuration Items (CIs).
Access
To use the Design and Assign function for logical connections, navigate to Workspaces > Network Inventory Workspace, then select the design and assign icon to open the Design request overview. From there, you can create a new logical connection or access existing change requests.
Design and assign a logical connection in the Telecommunications Network Inventory application. By using the Design and Assign function, you can fulfill the logical connection design request of a customer.
The Design and Assign function provides the activities and tasks that an agent can perform to create a logical connection. Depending on the design request, the agent can design a logical connection and assign the related network inventories to that connection.
