Set the planned disposition of a business application

Set the planned disposition of a business application to track decisions on the plan of the application.

About this task

Setting the planned disposition of a business application results in better data maintenance, improved data findability, and better management of application maintenance costs.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Workspaces > Enterprise Architecture Workspace.
2. Open the Application Rationalization page by selecting the application rationalization icon ().
3. Select Bubble chart.
4. Select the bubble for the relevant application that you want to set the planned disposition for and perform the following.

   Bubble type	Action
   Single bubble	Select a single bubble. In the pop-up window, select the context menu icon () and select Set planned disposition.
   Grouped bubble	Select a grouped bubble. The info pane appears, displaying the list of individual business applications that are part of the grouped bubble. Select the context menu icon next to () and select Set planned disposition.

5. In the Set planned disposition window, do the following:

   Planned disposition type	Actions available
   Invest	Select the planned disposition status from the Planned disposition drop-down list. Enter the justification for selecting that planned disposition status in the Reasoning field.
   Sustain	Select the planned disposition status from the Planned disposition drop-down list. Enter the justification for selecting that planned disposition status in the Reasoning field.
   Migrate	Select the planned disposition status from the Planned disposition drop-down list. Select the migration strategy for the business application in the Migration Strategy field. Select the target business application to which the existing business application will be migrated to, in the Target Business Application field. Select a target date for the planned disposition in the Planned disposition date field. The target date must be the current date or a future date. Enter the justification for selecting that planned disposition status in the Reasoning field.
   Retire	Select the planned disposition status from the Planned disposition drop-down list. Select a target date for the planned disposition in the Planned disposition date field. The target date must be the current date or a future date. Enter the justification for selecting that planned disposition status in the Reasoning field.

6. Select Update.
