This capability accelerates diagram creation and improves communication by automatically listing entities and describing their interconnections in the generated diagrams.
Key Features
- AI-driven diagram generation: Use conversational prompts containing the word “diagram” to create business application hierarchy diagrams via the Now Assist panel.
- Diagram summarization: After diagram generation, the AI agent provides a summary detailing all entities and their relationships within the diagram.
- Agentic workflow activation and customization: Customers can activate the predefined workflow or duplicate and modify it to tailor instructions and settings to their needs.
- Role-based access control: Requires the
snapm.apmuserrole for generating diagrams and thenowassistpaneluserrole to interact with the Now Assist panel. Additional roles can be granted access via Access Control Lists (ACLs). - Integration with AI Agent Studio: Admins can create, manage, and test the workflow in AI Agent Studio, ensuring smooth deployment and validation before use.
Practical Use and Access
- To generate a diagram, users select the Now Assist icon, enter a prompt such as “Create a diagram for [business application],” and the AI agent completes the request.
- Administrators enable and configure the workflow through AI Agent Studio by activating the template and managing access roles as needed.
- No additional triggers are required to run the workflow, simplifying setup and execution.
- The workflow supports better understanding and communication of enterprise architecture, benefiting both architects and business stakeholders.

Generate enterprise architecture diagram overview
Use the Generate enterprise architecture diagram agentic workflow to create enterprise architecture diagrams for business applications hierarchy, through a conversation with an AI agent in the Now Assist panel. This agentic workflow accelerates the time to value for enterprise architects while building business hierarchy diagrams. It also enables non-enterprise architects to understand the context of an architectural diagram.
After generating the diagram, the AI agent suggests summarizing the created business application hierarchy diagram, listing all entities in the diagram and describing the relationship between them.
You can activate the agentic workflow template by setting the display settings to include the Now Assist panel. If you want to change instructions for this agentic workflow, you must duplicate the agentic workflow, adjust the settings to suit your specific needs, and activate the duplicated version of the agentic workflow instead. For information on how to duplicate a agentic workflow, see duplicate the agentic workflow.
