Summary of OT device related items and related lists
This content details how ServiceNow customers can manage Operational Technology (OT) devices using the All OT Devices menus, which include options to view and interact with related items and lists. It explains the availability and configuration of related lists for OT devices, focusing on those in OT classes or extended classes. Customers can view, add, or configure these relationships to maintain a comprehensive and accurate representation of OT device data within the CMDB.

Related Lists and Their Functions
Several related lists provide detailed information about OT devices, including:
- IP Address: Displays IP addresses, IP versions, netmasks, NIC numbers, and related configuration items.
- Network Adapters: Shows adapter names, MAC addresses, IP details, manufacturer info, DHCP status, and adapter status.
- Serial Numbers: Lists serial numbers with validity and type details.
- Equipment Model Entities: Identifies equipment models automated by the OT device.
- OT Control Modules: For OT control system devices, shows control modules owned by the device, with options to create and define module types and I/O values.
- CMDB 360: Presents multisource CMDB data related to the OT device.
- Memory Modules: Includes serial number details for memory modules linked to the device.
- Software Installed: Lists application software installed on the OT device.
- OT Vulnerable Items, OT Incidents, OT Change Requests: Tracks security vulnerabilities, incidents, and change requests related to the OT device.
- External System Metadata: Displays URLs from source systems, discovery sources, and updated device information via service graph connectors.
- OT Protocols: Applicable to protocol converter classes, showing protocol details such as name, version, vendor, and description.
- Backup Information: Contains backup-related data associated with the configuration item.
These related lists help customers gain comprehensive insight and control over their OT devices and their dependencies.
Managing OT Devices and Protocols
- Operational Technology Device Form: Enables editing detailed information for OT devices within the enterprise.
- Creating and Mapping OT Protocols: Customers can define protocols used for communication between devices in the industrial network and map these protocols to protocol converter configuration items in the Industrial Workspace.
- Converting IT Hardware to OT Devices: Allows identification and bulk conversion of IT hardware devices to OT devices, facilitating efficient record management and accurate classification.
- Converting OT Devices back to IT Hardware: Supports bulk editing to remove OT-specific details and convert devices back to IT hardware classification.
- Synchronizing IP Addresses: The SyncIPAddressToOT scheduled job automates updating and synchronizing IP address data for OT devices by pulling information from the IP address table and updating the corresponding CI records.
Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
By leveraging these features and related lists, customers can:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive CMDB records for OT devices.
- Visualize and manage device dependencies and relationships effectively.
- Streamline device classification and reclassification between IT and OT.
- Ensure up-to-date network and protocol information to support industrial network communication.
- Track and manage security vulnerabilities, incidents, and change requests specific to OT devices.
The All OT Devices, All OT Devices by IP Address, and All OT Devices by CI menu options contain several related items and lists.
| Related list | Description |
|---|---|
| IP Address | The IP addresses, IP versions, Net masks, NIC numbers, and configuration items that are associated with the OT device. |
| Network Adapters | The names, MAC addresses, IP addresses, Netmasks, MAC manufacturers, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)-enabled indicators. It includes statuses of the network adapters that are associated with the OT device. |
| Serial Numbers | The serial numbers, validity indicators, and serial number types that are associated with the OT device. |
| Equipment Model Entities | The equipment model entities that are automated by the OT device. |
| OT Control Modules |
The control modules that are associated with the OT device of type OT control system or extended classes (for example, PLC). Each OT control module that has an "Owned by: Owns" relationship with the OT Control System record that is displayed. In the platform, the user can create an OT Control module. You can choose from the following Input/Output values depending on the Module type field:
|
| CMDB 360 | The related CMDB 360 data in the CMDB 360 [cmdb_multisource_data] table. |
| Memory Modules | The serial numbers, validity indicators, and serial number types for the memory modules that are associated with the OT device. |
| Software Installed | The application software, if any, that is installed for the OT device. |
| OT Vulnerable Items | The vulnerable items that are associated with the OT device. |
| OT Incidents | The OT incidents that are associated with the OT device. |
| OT Change Requests | The OT Change requests that are associated with the OT device. |
| External System Metadata | The URL of the device in the source system, discovery source, and updated devices that are associated with the CI. The URL is automatically populated by the source system through the service graph connector. |
| OT Protocols | This is applicable for protocol converter class. The protocols, description, vendor, and version that are associated with the protocol converter class. |
| Backup Information | The Backup Information object associated with the current CI. |
