ICM Entity Management Firearm form

  • The Firearm form allows you to create a new firearm entity record within an investigative case, and capture as many identifiable details about the firearm as possible. The firearm entity will automatically link to the case, with options to link the entity to another case, or another entity. Not all fields are mandatory, but a minimum amount of information is required for the record to be searchable within ICM.

    Firearm Search for an existing record in the master index to auto-fill its information. If the firearm record has not yet been created, skip this and enter the details manually.
    Serial number Serial number of the firearm.
    Alternate serial number Alternate serial number of the firearm. Used if defaced, partially removed, or re-stamped.
    Manufacturer name Name of the manufacturer
    Manufacturer country Country of the manufacturer
    Global gun make code A unique 3-4 character alphanumeric code assigned to the specific manufacturer.
    Model name/number Firearm model name or number.
    Firearm type The type of firearm.

    Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Revolver, or Machine gun

    Action type A firearm's action type, classified by its operating mechanism.

    Bolt, Semi-automatic, Pump, Lever, Break

    Caliber/Gauge Diameter of the firearm barrel. 9mm, 22mm, etc.
    Marking/Engravings Description of any markings or engravings on the firearm.
    Importer Name Name of the firearm importer, if imported.
    Country of Manufacture Firearm country of Manufacture.
    Year of Manufacture Firearm year of Manufacture.
    Finish/Color Finish/Color.
    Grip/Stock Material Wood, Polymer, Metal, or Custom.
    Barrel Length Length of firearm barrel in inches.
    Overall Length Length of firearm in inches.
    Magazine Capacity The number of rounds a firearm's magazine can hold.
    Sight Type Iron, Optic, Night sights, Laser
    Modifications/Aftermarket parts Any modifications or aftermarket parts found on the firearm.
    Condition Condition of the firearm.

    New, Used, Poor, Damaged

    Unique Identifiers Any unique identifiers found on the firearm.
    Status Status of the firearm in relation to the case. Can be
    • Active
    • Recovered
    • Destroyed
    • Stolen
    • Unknown
    NIBIN Entry Flag Whether a piece of ballistic evidence (such as a shell casing or a test-fired bullet) has been reviewed, deemed appropriate, and entered into the NIBIN database.
    • Yes/No
    • National Integrated Ballistic Information Network
    NIBIN Entry ID If entered into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, NIBIN Entry ID.
    Test Fire Result Referencer Unique ID.
    Ballistic Signature ID Whether any unique, microscopic marks were usedto identify the firearm.
    Information Completeness Not all fields are mandatory, but a minimum amount of information is required for the record to be searchable within ICM. The information completeness field indicates whether or not that minimum requirement is met. Displays as Partial or Complete.
