ServiceNow is at the heart of Italy’s booming digital economy

Italy’s digital economy: group of workers gathered around an outdoor table

Italy has set ambitious plans to significantly develop its digital economy. According to the European Commission, the country is planning to allocate a total budget estimated at over EUR 32.5 billion to achieve its digital transformation. It’s a significant commitment that should help to bring accelerated growth and innovation across industries—and support the country’s stated aim to become an AI leader.

Cloud computing has an important part to play in Italy’s digital goals. ServiceNow worked with NetConsulting cube to survey large, cross-sector companies in Italy on their views on local cloud services. The survey results show that Italian companies consider in-country data centres important, specifying advantages such as greater business resilience, data and application security, business continuity, and disaster recovery.

Survey respondents also indicated that closer proximity to data centres—which host the systems and store the data on which cloud services depend—would offer enhanced sustainability, as well as regulatory compliance and reduced latency.

Making work better across industries

The upward trajectory of the Italian digital economy is driving greater interest in, and demand for, the vital technologies that will support continued growth. It’s a positive story that ServiceNow is proud to be part of. The Now Platform, born in the cloud, is an increasingly essential foundation for Italian companies’ digital transformation. In fact, more than 85% of Italian companies quoted on the Italian stock market (IT40) have selected ServiceNow.

ServiceNow Italy Country Manager Filippo Giannelli describes the impact of the Now Platform on many Italian organisations: “From public sector and financial services to telcos, consumer goods, and manufacturing companies like Lavazza and Amplifon, we’re helping organisations to consolidate workflows onto a single platform that makes work better for everyone.”

The integrated approach of the Now Platform provides access to AI tools and solutions that can enable organisations to take advantage of new technologies at pace across the enterprise.

Developing the digital ecosystem

ServiceNow also supports the development of the broader digital ecosystem in Italy. As Giannelli explains: “We are building an extensive partner community, which now numbers more than 35 global firms and local specialist partners, to help ensure our customers in Italy get the most from the ServiceNow platform. That community of partners and customers is working with us to drive the Italian market’s growth.”

A cornerstone of any cloud-based digital economy is the data, storage, and connectivity of the underlying infrastructure. That’s why ServiceNow is expanding its network of data centres across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, adding two more dedicated in-country centres in Rome and Milan.

ServiceNow is also investing in people to build on that momentum and working hard to maintain a great company culture in Italy. ServiceNow Italia was ranked fourth in Great Place to Work Italy 2024 and recognised in Best Workplaces for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion 2024.

Giannelli sums up our progress to date and where we want to go next: “With the pace of digitalisation in Italy accelerating all the time, it’s an incredibly exciting place to be. ServiceNow is proud of the contribution we’re making, and we’re committed to doing even more to help Italy to become the digital leader it can be, both for Europe and the rest of the world.”
