What you need to know about our $1.5 billion UK business investment
At the 2024 International Investment Summit businesses pledged record levels of investment in the UK.
ServiceNow was among them, with a headcount of 1,000 employees in the UK. We’ve committed to invest $1.5 billion (£1.15 billion) into the market in the next five years to expand data centres, office space, and AI skills programmes. This illustrates our dedication to the UK as it embraces technology transformation at scale. Let’s take a closer look.
Accelerating the UK’s AI push
ServiceNow’s inaugural Enterprise AI Maturity Index, developed in partnership with Oxford Economics, found that 85% of UK businesses plan to increase AI spending next year.
This insight points to ongoing demand for AI solutions that are vital for organisations to grow—something we’re already seeing play out for our customers.
The Mears Group, for example, adopted Now Assist to rapidly source and surface the right information in the company’s AI search function. Generative AI has helped the housing services business accelerate operational speeds and save money as a result.
To help accelerate the UK’s push to put AI to work, we’re looking to bring NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) to our London and Newport-based data centres. These will add support for UK data processing on our large language models (LLMs).
We’re also increasing computing capacity in our UK data centres, powering domain-specific LLMs for UK customers and governments.
Creating space for people and growth
Investments in technology won’t be enough to sustain the impact of AI on the way we work. We must invest in people too—upskilling them for the future workplace.
Through ServiceNow University, we’ve committed to reaching 24,000 learners across the UK by 2027. Our goal is to help them unlock the value of the Now Platform and harness AI for career development.
As the UK’s demand for AI innovation increases, we have a key role to play. Expanding our employee base can help support AI adoption across the country.
To meet the needs of our growing team, we plan to enlarge our office space while keeping our award-winning culture front and centre. This will enable us to welcome more people to drive ServiceNow forward.
How businesses will benefit
ServiceNow’s investment in the UK is expected to have tangible benefits for our customers. We work with more than half of the FTSE 100 and hundreds of UK public sector bodies to increase capacity and reduce complexity.
Following the announcement, Hena Jalil, managing director, business digital, BT Group, shared: “AI will enable our teams to provide our customers with better products and services, faster. So, we warmly welcome this AI investment from ServiceNow into the UK, which also underscores the UK's position as an attractive destination for innovation."
Whether organisations are at the start of their AI journeys or well underway, the ServiceNow AI platform for business transformation can help drive efficiency and productivity at scale—while maintaining a human-centred focus.
