UI Builder Read only - Not Editable -The page definition has a protection policy

I am attempting to modify a page within UI Builder, but I am encountered with a Blue banner stating: "Read-only. The page definition has a protection policy." Even though I am in the correct application scope ., the "Save" button is disabled, and I cannot modify the components, layout, or styles.

Hi @apoorvakamath, 

The page is protected by a UI Builder protection policy, which makes it read-only, even if you’re in the correct application scope. You cannot turn off the protection policy. 

To make changes, you’ll need to duplicate the page variant and work on the copied version. Then, either mark the OOTB variant as inactive or change its order to a higher value so your custom variant is used instead. 

This is the supported and recommended approach.
