Hi Team,
I am currently working on creating an AI Agent in ServiceNow AI Agent Studio (guided setup), and I am stuck at the “Define data access” step.
Issue:
- The User identity type is set to Dynamic user
- However, in the “Approved role(s)” field, I am:
- Unable to select any roles
- The field appears inactive/empty (only shows “—”)
- Because of this, I am unable to proceed and complete the agent creation
What I have checked/tried:
- Verified that earlier steps (specialty, tools, user access) are completed
- Tried refreshing the session and reopening the setup
- Confirmed that I am using a lab instance (Now Learning environment)
Questions:
- Are there any mandatory roles or plugins required for populating the “Approved role(s)” field?
- Is this a known issue in lab instances?
- Does the Dynamic user option require any additional configuration?
- Could this be due to missing ACLs or permissions on my user account?
Additional info:
- Instance: Now Learning lab instance
- Module: AI Agent Studio
- Step: Define security controls → Define data access
Any guidance or pointers would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Try the process again. It's possible the Studio experience is buggy in an earlier version. The role list in "Define data access" should carry over from "Define user access" for Dynamic user, if nothing else is defined:
Other things to look at: your session application scope selected, or if you are logged in as a user without the sn_aia.admin role.
