Thanks to all 114 who made out to OCLC last week for the Ohio SNUG meeting. Great day all around! Our sincere thanks to Maryville Technologies for sponsoring the meeting and to Matrix42 for Happy Hour sponsorship.

The presentation slides are attached for all but the Gen2 hosting session and those are forthcoming. We appreciate the survey feedback and ideas you shared. We expect to offer meetings in Cleveland and Cincinnati in the November time-frame based on your comments and will allow time for more structured networking as you have requested. Stay tuned for more info on the next meetings.

Reminder: K13 is scheduled for May 12 - 16, 2013 in Las Vegas. Is K13 in your 2013 budget? Gotta be! We look forward to seeing there as well our next local meetings.

Thanks for being the best community of customers in all of IT!

I really enjoyed the meeting. But I can't open the PPTX files.

When I try to open the PPTX files, instead of power point, I get a view into a compressed folder.
How can I get this to work?

I tried viewing it directly by clicking on the link to the file, and I tried saving the file to my desktop.
I get the same result either way: No slideshow, just a view into a compressed folder.

It's finicky

You might have to click a couple of times before it will save it as a pptx file.
Sometimes, using a different browser will do the trick.

Got a way to view it.

I googled the problem, tried a couple of things and here's what worked.
I think it's related to the fact that I have PowerPoint 2007 ( one version back )

1. Right click on the link to the .pptx file -> save target as -> filename.pptx
2. On your PC, start up Power Point
3. In Power Point, start the "open file" dialog, navigate to your file
Note: you may have to adjust the selection filter to show "All files".
4. Click on the filename of the presentation.
5. Viola! Now you can view the slide show.

If you want to view it later, or share it with friends, while viewing the slide show, start the "Save as" dialog, and save it as a PowerPoint 2003 file ( or whichever version you have ).

BTW - Wasn't the meeting AWESOME!
