Data Manager - Data Certification - Failed task

Hi All,

I am working on data certification and facing an issue which I have mentioned below. Any help is much appreciated.

I have created a certification task for a business application CI where the "managed by" is me. The task was assigned to me and I have failed the task. As per ServiceNow when I go to CMDB Workspace >> my task, I should see some tasks there for my failed certification task right? But I am not seeing anything there, no task assigned to me or any failed certification task message banner. I have admin role while I am testing this.

This is the ServiceNow article for failed certification task - Review failed certification tasks • Australia ServiceNow AI Platform Capabilities • Docs | ServiceNo...

Hi Gaurav,

You are not missing a banner - look at your own screenshots in this order:

1. Your first screenshot shows CMDBTASK0001225 already at State = Closed Complete, 100%, with Review completed (1) and Life Cycle Stage / Life Cycle Status marked failed. Once you submit that review, the certification task itself is finished, so it will never appear in the list in your second screenshot: that is an Open tasks list filtered to open states only, hence No data to display. Failing fields does not create a second, follow-up task assigned to you.

2. The failed fields live on as certification exceptions, and the Australia procedure you linked is for reviewing them from a different place than My Work / Open Tasks: Workspaces > CMDB Workspace, then select Tasks in that workspace, and use the drop-down/expand control on the task row. That expands the task to the records and fields that failed the review. Select the Certification Document ID to open the failed record/field details - Element shows Life Cycle Stage and Life Cycle Status in your case.

3. That exceptions list only shows exceptions for tasks assigned to you, and the procedure lists the sn_cmdb_admin role as required - so verify you hold sn_cmdb_admin explicitly, not only the general admin role you are testing with, and clear any State/Assigned-to filters on the Tasks page and search for CMDBTASK0001225 directly.

4. To remediate, you do not reopen the closed task. Open the business application CI from the exception (or directly) and correct the two failed values on the CI itself, then run/create a new certification task for that CI to certify the corrected values. The old closed task and its failed review result stay as the audit record.

So: nothing will show under Open Tasks/My Tasks for this one - check the expandable Tasks view in CMDB Workspace for the exceptions, fix the CI, and re-certify with a new task.
