SNPI - Explore Now Create task validation failed even after completing all steps

Description:

Hello everyone,

I am working on the ServiceNow Platform Implementation (SNPI) course in ServiceNow University.

I completed the "SNPI - Explore Now Create" exercise by following all the instructions:

  • Downloaded the Success Pack XML.
  • Imported the XML into my Personal Developer Instance.
  • Opened the Project & portfolio management foundations project.
  • Opened the Planning Console under Related Links.
  • Verified that the project contains all phases (Get Started, Initiate, Plan, Execute, Deliver, Close).

However, when I click Validate Task, it still fails.

The simulator displays the following message:

"Download the success pack from this link, and import the XML into your instance."

I have already imported the Success Pack, but the validator still does not recognize it.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there an additional step (such as Preview/Commit, cache refresh, or a known simulator issue) that I might be missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi @skbabarskba,

Nine times out of ten this one is about which XML you imported, not whether you imported one. The exercise wants the specific file exported via the Export Project Plan link on the Now Create best practices portal (it's named something like "Create your own app - ServiceNow SPM.xml"), and it has to go in through the exact path below, not a generic update set retrieve.

  • Confirm the file you grabbed is the one from Export Project Plan, not a different success pack or an older download.
  • Re-import it from Project > Projects > All, right-click the column header, and choose Import XML, don't use Retrieved Update Sets for this.
  • If both of those check out and the phases are already correct, this is a known case of the simulator getting stuck on a stale validation state, worth opening an HI case so support can reset it server-side.
