Line graph by year

Hi,

First time posting.

I am trying to create a line graph in my report where each line represents a separate year. However, I am unable to do this because there does not appear to be a “year” dimension available—only the opened date. Is there a way to drill down or derive the year and month from the opened date?

Currently, when I filter for records opened between 01/01/2024 00:00:00 and 31/12/2025 23:59:59 and create a line graph, I get a single line spanning 24 months. What I am looking for instead is two separate lines—one for 2024 and one for 2025—each covering the same 12-month period. This would allow us to compare month‑by‑month trends year over year and clearly see what has increased or decreased.

I suspect this limitation may be related to my access level, but I wanted to check whether this type of breakdown and visualisation is possible in ServiceNow (Zurich).

Thanks

Hi @salguodrek ,

if you make a time series visualization, then you should be able to select to see it by month/year etc. based on date field.

Click on Pencil icon in trend by ,then in the Aggregation period choose Year.

Thanks when i go to trend by there is no pencil icon visible.  When i do trend by "Created" the aggregation does not show "year"  - i suspect this is the due to the access i have been given as i cant drill down on "Created" to show the month or Year - it is just a hard stop at created. Can I just confirm though it is possible on Service Now to have a line graph where each line represent a year, and the month will show along the x axis and the count of tickets shows on the Y axis if i had unrestricted access so to speak ?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
