Hi Community,
I’m looking for some career guidance and would really appreciate your insights.
I have 13 years of experience in IT, with 5+ years as a Business Analyst in the ServiceNow ecosystem, primarily focused on the IT Asset Management (ITAM) domain. Over the years, I’ve gained strong functional expertise, but I’m increasingly concerned about the growth and future opportunities for Business Analysts in ServiceNow.
As ServiceNow continues to expand with multiple modules, I’ve noticed that job opportunities often get narrowed down based on specific module expertise. It’s challenging to gain hands-on experience across modules, especially when deployment decisions depend on organizational needs and luck rather than individual initiative.
I’m at a crossroads and would love your suggestions:
- What does the future look like for ServiceNow Business Analysts?
- Is it advisable to continue expanding functional knowledge across modules, or should I start focusing on the technical side (e.g., solutioning, scripting, configurations)?
- I have basic technical knowledge, but I’m unsure how to proceed if I want to transition into a more technical or solutioning role. What learning path or certifications would you recommend?
Any advice from those who’ve navigated similar transitions or have insights into evolving BA roles in ServiceNow would be incredibly helpful.
Thanks
