Time off request for user overlaps with existing Coverage request

There is an existing oncall schedule, however, accidentally added coverage for one day for the same oncall user instead of scheduling a time off request.  any attempts to enter time off, getting

 

"Time off request for user overlaps with existing Coverage request"

 

Is there a way to delete the oncall shift for that one day without having to update the existing schedule?
