Not able to create new questions in this site, it is displaying access denied on this server why???
Hi Arun,
Can you please tell me where you're trying to create/post a new question and where you're getting an access denied error message? If you can replicate the issue, please share the URL. I'm trying to reproduce it on my end so I can get it resolved ASAP.
Thank You,
David Hung
Hi,
Clicking on my current avatar removed my pic.
Also I am not able to select new avatar.
While posting an image it gave me this message "You have reached your upload limit of 1,000 images."
Regards
Ankur
Love the new look and feel. Looks very niche and rich. Thanks for making an upgrade 🙂
Site is very fast as well compared to previous version.
Love the new titles to contributors... feeling empowered 🙂
Loving the new look and feel.
However I had posted an article on 23rd September and it is no longer in the system. Is there a delay of some sort?
All my links from emails (including back in July) not longer work. How do we get to the linked articles / posts?
I've tried searching the community, including by author, but even though it says they made posts, some of them don't show up. Or some profiles (such as John Spirko's) say they've posted many more articles than are available in the list.
There are only 7 posts listed below.
What happened to content that used to be on the community? Every single bookmark I had is no longer useful which is very disappointing to me - I relied on several of them heavily!
Love the new look and feel but there is apparently a short character limit on display names - missed my full name by One Character in the home page - but there are plenty of folks with longer names than mine that will be severely truncated.
@Steve MacDonald Do you have the link or title.
Where do the review approvals from articles come from? I'm a ServiceNow employee and now I'm waiting on my own article to be reviewed when I'm just making HTML adjustments from the migration.
@Alec Hanson Hi Alec, thanks for your comment. On the previous site we shared a global announcement banner that stated a content freeze would begin on September 22, 2022. Since the article you mentioned above was posted on September 23, 2022, it does not appear on the site. Could you please send us an email so we can help resolve? dan.bruhn@servicenow.com, derek.rothgordon@servicenow.com, and sarah.garey@servicenow.com.
Thanks!
I gotta say, I'm NOT impressed! Can we go back to the old one? Isn't the goal to actually evolve and make the interface simpler and easier to navigate and use?
The new community is completely broken. It took me about 20 minutes just to figure out how to post a question! Seriously? Then I spent about 20 minutes on a new post because I need help with a Glide Record script. After meticulously crafting my question in the Developer Forum, I got an ACCESS DENIED error!
It's especially frustrating seeing posts about how great it is and how much some people are loving it. Really? It's totally broken, how do you love it so much?
I also got an error trying to reply to another post. I was trying to thank somebody this morning for a post, and I got a "flood posting" warning. Also my reply was denied. I only hit the submission button once, and only had one single reply this morning. How am I flood posting?
I also don't like the new look at all. It's harder to figure out where everything is, and extremely hard to find the "Post a question" button.
@Ashley Snyder Hi Ashley, thanks for your comment. I understand there are a few options underneath your post when editing. For example, there is an option to save, publish, and submit for review. When you open your post now, are you able to click "publish" or what do you see? Happy to help.
Thanks!
Thank you @Sarah G_ this is for an article that was migrated. I am the owner of the article, and have edited a draft, but the article is under an Awaiting review state with no option to Publish, just Recall.
I have an email from Sunday with a link to a post I made last week. The post will not load when I'm on a private network. Further, for some reason, when I'm on my employer's network, any "deeplink" I click (as in a link to a specific post, specific thread, etc.) gets blocked as malware.
None of the bookmarks I have work, and I cannot find any posts that I had bookmarked when I search.
One link actually returned a hint of something... too bad it wasn't helpful, and it wasn't the post itself. It said the post had been "Archived". Well that's great. How many years-old posts did you guys archive here, honestly?
I have emailed our rep asking for help. I'm with @Fuse Henry on this. The posts saying it's great are vapid and useless. The new site here was not ready for production, not by a long shot. Please roll it back to the old community and fix all these bugs before deployment.
@apjohn2 Regrettably, if you posted an article last week, it did not get carried over to the new community. There was a banner posted last week to try to warn posters about this. If you would like the content to show on the new community, please post it again. Sorry for the inconvenience!
@Sarah G_ hey, asking for a friend but is the GRC community really so far below Impact or the more generic "industry solutions" - but just before Localization?
Maybe make a first grouping for Solutions Areas like on sn.com to avoid the double menu?
PS: If i use a smiley in the post I get this error preventing me from posting (and errors during autosave as well)
@Sarah G_ Hi, just posted a post that was saved, then "pending moderation" and then disappeared. I get an error both during autosave and post if I use a smiley in a post.
My post was really about the position of the GRC community was down low, few levels lower that Impact community - so this is report = shorter version
smiley creates this during autosave
and this when clicking post
All the events from the past 2 years have been re-published on Wednesday. So all the posts from before the freeze (2 weeks old) are found many pages below those "100"s of outdated events.
Maybe change data sorting for "Most recent" at the top of the forum from "Published date" to "Creation Date"?
Hi @Ashley Snyder thanks for your screenshot! It's super helpful. I've found your article and I do see several options: (1) recall (2) return to author (3) submit for publication and (4) publish. Would you like me to click publish or return to author? My suggestion would be to publish, and then you can continue your edits.
It seems that the unedited version of your post is still visible: https://www.servicenow.com/community/next-experience-articles/portal-resource-hub/ta-p/2331976
@David Nottingha thanks for your comment. This is good feedback. I'll be sure to share this with the team so that we can consider increasing the character limit for usernames. Our apologies for the inconvenience at this time.
Hi,
I posted few posts last week and they were detailed and long that I don't remember the whole content. I am not able to find those question posts. I request to please bring my posts back.
@geet - I think you can log into the old site and just copy paste.
I think the 10 day data loss was unprecedented, and will live on for months as a black eye on Community.
But nothing we can do about it now.
See if you can find it on old community.servicenow.com
Thanks for replying back @Robert Fedoruk
When I am trying the old link it is redirecting me to this new community page. Any different way to access the old link?
Not able to post answers some time. it shows error - "Sorry, unable to complete the action you requested."
So after going through the community a bit, i would like to consolidate some of the feedback i have (and a lot has already been mentioned) in one core feedback:
This is a community forum, not a ServiceNow homepage.
I have stressed this over the years and i cannot stress it enough. This place is about finding help, new insights, posting questions or anything related to ServiceNow. I don't understand the need of reinventing the basics of a community forum. Yes, the new cool fresh look is great, but hot **bleep** is it confusing.
Please take hints from other forum sites:
1) Everyone should be allowed to post a question or a non-question (aka. article).
2) The CENTER of the forum must be adding content or finding it. The new search makes it hard to actually find what i am looking for. Why is there no distinguishing search or scrolling through articles, blogs, questions?
3) Community Activity is king. Everything else should be a forum (news, events etc.)
4) Introduce "Hot" feeds. Like reddit, 4chan or any other successful forum give me user driven content that is currently at the front! Show me content that is probably great! Let me see the stuff thats exiting.
5) Marketing is not allowed for members, and it should not be allowed for ServiceNow either. I get it! This is a ServiceNow forum. But your webinars should not (never) take the center place AHEAD of the community questions. I am fine with having an event feed - but make it a feed.
6) Interact with your community! Have community polls! Have quiz challenges to earn points! Push content-hackathons. Like please, this could be so much more than just a well polished wiki...
Yes, visually this is a step in the right direction. Yes, there are some technical issues, which i am fine with, after all this has been a smooth transition. But a community needs more than "just" look good. And as many others have pointed out, for now this feels like a step backwards...
ps.: Feel free to reach out to me (and others have made themselves available for exchanges too) for more feedback and ideas.
Hi, I posted in the SPM forum and got a reply I'm interested in. However, the link in the email notification takes me nowhere and stays in the homescreen. Whatever and however I search the new hubs I can't find it, nor can I see my question at my profile and questions asked. Similarly from my community account, I can't navigate to the Idea Portal as it says it's for ServiceNow accounts only. Any help appreciated as this change did not make it easier.. Thanks
while replying to a query i get this below error message
Sorry, unable to complete the action you requested.
Not able to create questions , no access to old questions which I asked and also links are not working with in the community. DO NOT LIKE THIS NEW LOOK AT ALL.
Is there not the ability to thread comments on the community or am I missing something super apparent? @Sarah_G I can't even find your name to comment, but to thread to our conversation - someone internal had to help me and add permissions. The fact that I'm not able to reply to you in a thread is odd and seems to make responses hard to read. Hopefully this is something I am missing, or is in the works for an enhancement?
I've spent 15 minutes trying to respond to a message here all to no avail. All entries end up with the Access Denied message. One thing I did note is that the URL ends with 'articlepage.commenteditorform.form.form.form'
Hopefully this comment works. I've removed all links (added a space after 'https://').
Jace Benson This link from an email on July 27:
https:// community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_Event&sys_id=524f2fe3dbf8d9102454e6be1396190b
Not only does the link not work, but now I can't even find the 'Digital Services Forum' altogether to try and find it manually and the link in the original email ends up at the Community Home Page
https:// community.servicenow.com/community?id=community_forum&sys_id=5bb998e61bc309d0a59033f2cd4bcbec
John Spirko's profile can be seen here.
https:// www.servicenow.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/73007
Note the listing of '31 Posts' from him, yet the list of Posts shows only 5.
Some links from emails still work, while others show an 'archived' message. But older articles still exist.
Not to mention that every few moments I get a message popping up above my post saying 'Sorry unable to complete the action you requested.' It is annoying enough, but it also makes the page jump when it happens.
And now the dreaded 'you do not have access' message which points out the following URL; note the extra 'form.form':
http:// www.servicenow.com/community/tkb/v2_4/articlepage.commenteditorform.form.form.form
Thanks - Steve
Not sure if it is a fix, or just lucky timing, but if you are getting the Access Denied message, make sure you don't have any links in the message. @mentions don't seem to work for some of us either.
@Steve MacDonald - basically anything that contains formatting or external content has a dice roll for Access Denied.
Not sure if this the best place to call out(although I can see it mentioned here in comments) but seems to be frequent errors when trying to reply to posts.
Seems to be an issue with the auto-caching/saving taking place, as when I reload the page half a post I'll have typed will be there, and I need to keep refreshing the page until the auto-saving catches up, then it allows me to submit a reply.
Like the new look and feel though. Narrowing in on unanswered questions to help out seems a bit clunkier then before, but I'd imagine it's just something to get used to.
First impressions are I like it 🙂
@Dan O Connor - I've found that posts containing any formatting, emojis, or embedded hyperlinks are at greater risk for those types of errors.
@Robert Fedoruk Yeah I'm experiencing that alright, but just simple text posts seem to also fail for me, and I need to wait for the autosave to catchup or go to my profile and delete the auto-saved message to make a reply go through
You know how you can revert to backup or restore in case an upgrade goes bad or your PDI gets lost. Maybe we should do that with the Community Forum and revert back to what it was previously.
The more I use the new look, the more I miss the old one. Updates are supposed to add enhancements while making things easier, cleaner, smoother overall. This update pretty much did none of that.
Like someone else mentioned above, this is a Community forum and that should be first and foremost. When I first navigate to the Community forum and I can't see any forum activity without scrolling down first....that's a problem.
At a bare minimum, these sections need to be removed completely so that when you load the first thing you see after the "Welcome Back" message is Community Activity:
I am also no longer allowed to edit my articles or blogs.
@Fabian Kunzke you may have to put in a case or how support is being handled on here. @ServiceNow is there a guide for non-ServiceNow employees on how to regain editing rights? I know as a ServiceNow employee I also had to request edit access for my articles/blogs after the re-launch.
@Dan O Connor I've found issues with the table editor as well, i.e. using the OOTB features to add background color styling, etc. produces invalid HTML errors and have reported it to the Community team. Just an FYI for anyone who uses these features in their articles, or is planning on cleaning up any formatting issues with migrated articles.
Hi All,
Thanks for your comments and feedback. If I have not already personally responded to your comment on this thread, please know that I'm working on an FAQ to help remediate some of the challenges mentioned above.
Understandably, you may Private Message me on the community if there is a concern you need me to escalate to our Admin team. Additionally, it may be helpful to know that several of the errors with posting and replying have received the visibility and awareness needed for a prioritized resolution. Take care.
Sincerely,
Sarah G.
My inbox was full of spam today. Have I been automatically subscribed to forums I was a member of before? And the My Subscriptions link in my profile doesn't work, or doesn't list anything, making it hard to unsubscribe to what I never remember subscribing to in the first place.
How to create Questions here?
I posted a question on last month, but now its's not available.
Seriously not liking the UI 😞
You have to go into each section to post a question. It's a bad design. (Click Discussions at the top and then Developers and you will see Ask a Question)
The negatives really outweigh the positives of this redesign. A lot of the decisions made in this redesign make no sense. Example...Tera Expert, Mega Expert, Tera Guru, etc...I know these are ranks, but these words mean nothing to us and I can't click any of them to see what they mean or what rank someone is! You know what's easier to understand than that....Forum Level 4, Forum Level 2, Forum Level 5....at least then you clearly knew that someone had been on this forum a good bit assisting people.
I want the old community back
Does anyone have an issue where there post history has been removed since the migration? I previously had a lot of posts and answers that I referenced to by searching my post history. Now they are all gone and the answers are now authored by "Not Applicable".
For example, here is a link to one post, and a link to a 2nd post that I have answered.
Hi,
Could you please share a link to the place where the new ranks are described (what should be done to achieve each rank etc - similar to the previous article describing community levels/forum levels)?
Thank you in advance,
Marcin
Love the new look and feel. Thanks for making an upgrade . Now the site is going good
