The ServiceNow Community is a vibrant, welcoming community filled with developers, technical IT staff, and business professionals of all types that come together to help each other get the most out of their ServiceNow products.
Since the ServiceNow Community is a peer-to-peer community, the members contribute the content and shape the community culture. Consequently, ServiceNow feels it is important to outline Behavioral Guidelines to ensure our community works in the best interest of all users. ServiceNow reserves the right to terminate users’ participation or access to ServiceNow Community for failure to comply with the ServiceNow Terms of Use and the guidelines below.
Behavioral Guidelines
We trust that you will help make the community a helpful and productive place for all by acting on the following:
Uphold professionalism
Keep in mind we are a professional community. Avoid profanity, all capital letters, and offensive behaviors. Respect other community members regardless of their level of expertise. This creates a collaborative environment where all feel inclined to participate.
Self-promo is a no no
Do not promote a service you are offering unrelated to ServiceNow or ServiceNow Community. There are tons of opportunities elsewhere. Instead, share what you know regarding ServiceNow products and find your niche in our community. Ensure the continual flow of information on the community by not linking to other sites.
Stay on subject
Be sure to post in the most relevant forum. Do not post the same post in several forums. To receive the most help from others, be clear in your title and give context to posts. If you have a separate point, start a new thread and await feedback from there. Steer clear of unrelated topics that could be considered objectionable or inflammatory.
Give recognition
Thank members for their efforts and if the response is useful mark it as helpful. When a solution works for your question, mark the discussion as correct so others can quickly find the solution.
Show fairness
At no time does ServiceNow tolerate point-boosting your own community account or members quickly find out. This means do not create multiple accounts or collude with others on helpful, bookmarks, solutions. Additionally, show fairness by not post misleading or erroneous information.
Respect copyright and intellectual property laws
Respect copyright, fair use, and financial disclosure laws. Reference and cite sources appropriately. Protect all confidential and proprietary information. Do not publish pictures or material from another person without their consent.
In addition to the guidelines above, exercise courtesy when using Private Messenger. Private Messenger is for professional use only. It enables you to start a private conversation with other community members for a higher chance of visibility in one place. Think of this resource as a quick alternative to email for two reasons: (1) You can read and send messages without leaving the community. (2) You don't have to know the other member's email address and you don't have to reveal yours. We reserve the right to limit access to features like private messenger in the event they are detrimental to the ServiceNow Community. ServiceNow holds the right to monitor private messages at any time.
Violations and reporting
Content violations in the following manner whether public or private will be removed from the community:
- Inflammatory or personal insults
- Discrimination, bigotry, racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia
- Harassment
- Hate speech
- Obscene or abusive comments
- Threats and/or harm against any individual or group
- Spam or persistent spamming of sub forums or threads
- Third-party advertising or any other form of solicitation
- Plagiarism
- Profanity
- Distribution of personal or sensitive information about other users
- Impersonation
- Disregard to copyrights or licenses
- Inappropriate images in profile
- Gaming the point leaderboard
- Abuse to helpful, bookmarks, solutions or ranking features
- Promoting a service you are offering
- Submitting the same post in several forums
In addition to the violations above, community accounts will be banned if the following are evident:
- Members post spam content to any area on ServiceNow Community
- Members post offensive or harmful material to any area on ServiceNow Community
- Members harass other users on any area on ServiceNow Community
- Members create multiple accounts or collude with others on helpful, bookmarks, solutions
If you recognize any content in violation of these guidelines or Terms of Use, report the content to the ServiceNow Community team for removal as follows:
Step 1: Click the more menu '…' located on the top right on any content next to the 'Subscribe/Unsubscribe' button
Step 2: Scroll and select 'Report Content'
Step 3: This redirects you to a short form to fill out
Step 4: Select one of the three primary reasons you are reporting the post (It is Inappropriate? It is Spam? Other?) You may also provide more context by specifying in the box ‘Additional Comments?’
Step 5: Click Submit when finished. You'll receive a notification via email that it has been sent for moderation review.
For more urgent and robust violations, kindly reach out to community@servicenow.com
For specific support questions that require immediate attention, please reach out to ServiceNow Support using this link https://www.servicenow.com/support/contact-support.html
ServiceNow reserves the right to edit or remove any content that is determined to be erroneous, inappropriate, offensive, or proprietary. The information you provide to ServiceNow is considered personal data and is protected by worldwide data protection laws. To learn more about privacy settings within the ServiceNow Community, review the Privacy section on Manage your profile.
Please keep in mind that information you publicly share is harder to control and protect and ServiceNow cannot be held responsible for any abuse of your data by anyone outside of ServiceNow. Review the ServiceNow Privacy Policy.

Hi Everyone,
I need some guidance on representing Application components within the CMDB. For e.g, there is the PowerBI application, and there are reports within PowerBI. The Business wants to track some of these reports as Individual CI because they are critical.
What is the best practice for this. One option I can think of is to have PowerBI as Platform Host, and the reports as Platform Applications. Other option is to have a custom checkbox called 'Application component' and check this box for the reports ( Each report will be an separate CI).
Neither of the above options actually seem satisfactory. I am interested in knowing if anyone else has come across this challenge.
Thoughts?

Hello Everyone,
My name is Kendall and I am a Navy veteran looking to make a transition into a position utilizing service now. I tried to post in the RiseUp forum but I have been unable to. It keeps telling me that the forum is read-only. Is there anyone I can contact to get write permission>
Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. I am very pleased to have been offered an opportunity to be on the team implementing ServiceNow at my company. I understand ServiceNow is widely popular. My company is brand new to ServiceNow. We have dozens of applications used by various parts of my company. Our senior management believes rebuilding that collection of systems within ServiceNow will produce benefits we cannot get any other way. The systems we have are working ok. The could be tailored to our operations in a manner that made our systems and or workflows more efficient. Each system is made with different tools from different software makers. All the systems can be improved with the software now running them.
Here is my question: What benefits should we expect to gain by rebuilding our systems in ServiceNow?

Hello ServiceNow Community!
I'm new to this forum however, I look forward to the journey. Recently, I promoted to a Telecommunication Systems Technician ll, for the California Office of Emergency Services Public Safety Communication Network Operations Center. In my new role we monitor Microwave networks for service affecting alarms that would hinder public safety communication. ServiceNow is my main tool for dispatching incidents so, what is a good path to take in ServiceNow University to increase efficiency? Thanks for listening!
