The Ultimate Guide to ServiceNow Delta Exam: Mastering the Vancouver Release (2023-2024)
Introduction to ServiceNow Delta Exam
In the ServiceNow world , staying updated with the latest releases and certifications is crucial. ServiceNow, a leading platform in this domain, mandates its mainline certification holders to undertake the Delta Exam. This exam ensures that professionals are up-to-date with the newest features and functionalities of ServiceNow. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into every aspect of the ServiceNow Delta Exam for the Vancouver release, covering the period of 2023-2024.
Understanding the Delta Exam Requirement
Why Take the Delta Exam?
If you hold a mainline certification in ServiceNow but are not certified in the latest release, which is currently Vancouver, you are required to take the Delta Exam. This is an annual requirement, ensuring that your skills and knowledge remain current and relevant.
Delta Exam Period for Vancouver Release
Key Dates to Remember
The Delta Exam for the Vancouver release is scheduled from November 16th, 2023, to February 13th, 2024. Mark these dates in your calendar to ensure you don’t miss this critical window for maintaining your certification.
Characteristics of the Delta Exam
What to Expect in the Exam
The Delta Exam typically comprises 20 or fewer questions. It is an open book, non-proctored, and timed assessment, with a duration of 1 hour. This format tests your ability to quickly locate and apply the latest ServiceNow information.
Purpose of the Delta Exams
Keeping Up with ServiceNow
The primary goal of the Delta Exam is to assess your familiarity with the latest ServiceNow information, particularly related to the specific focus area of the delta exam. It ensures that certified professionals are competent in the newest updates and practices.
Certification Maintenance Fee
Understanding the Financial Commitment
An annual fee of $200, or $100 for ServiceNow Partner organizations, is due during the delta exam period. This applies to those holding a mainline certification for a year or longer, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and upskilling.
Fee Payment Criteria
Who Needs to Pay?
The maintenance fee is applicable only if you have held a mainline ServiceNow certification for 1 year or longer when the maintenance fee period begins. This criterion ensures that the fee is levied on those who have had substantial time to benefit from their certification.
Specific Delta Exam Requirements
Mandatory for All
Regardless of whether you owe a maintenance fee, if you are not certified on the latest ServiceNow release, you must take the specific delta exams. This requirement underscores the importance of staying current with the latest ServiceNow developments.
Delta Exam Attempts
Opportunities for Success
You are allowed up to 4 attempts at the Delta Exam, with a mandatory 24-hour wait time between each failed attempt. This provides ample opportunity to learn from mistakes and improve your understanding of the new release.
Consequences After February 13th, 2024
The Importance of Compliance
If the annual maintenance fee is not paid (where applicable) and the specific delta exam is not passed by February 13th, 2024, your certification becomes uncertified. This would require you to take the original certification exam again, emphasizing the importance of meeting these requirements in a timely manner.
Conclusion: Staying Ahead in ServiceNow
The ServiceNow Delta Exam for the Vancouver release is more than just a requirement; it's an opportunity to stay at the forefront of IT service management. By understanding the exam's structure, requirements, and significance, you can ensure that your skills and knowledge remain sharp and relevant. Remember, in the fast-paced world of technology, continuous learning is not just an option, but a necessity. So, gear up, mark your calendars, and get ready to ace the ServiceNow Delta Exam!

In early 2026.
You are not required to appear for the 2025 deltas, as explained in @Allen Andreas's article here:
So you can rest easy until 2026.

I successfully passed my CSA exam in December 2024 and now I need to complete the Delta Exam. To check the status of your certification, log in to your Webassessor account linked to your Now Learning profile. If your certification status is marked as "at risk", you'll need to pass the Delta Exam before April 15th to maintain your certification. The good news? There's no fee for the Delta Exam this year! 😉
