Admins define obligation categories and subcategories in Now Assist Admin — for example, "Operational or Service Delivery → Reporting," "Legal & Compliance," or "Intellectual Property." These use cases tell the AI what to look for and how to classify what it finds.
When triggered on a contract record, the Now Assist skill reads the attached document and runs extraction against the configured use cases — identifying obligations clause by clause and generating structured records with name, category, subcategory, description, schedule type, and approver group.
Extracted obligations land in the contract's Obligations tab in "Draft" status — clearly labeled as AI-extracted so reviewers know to verify them. Each obligation shows a full detail panel with the extracted description, the relevant contract language, and the proposed schedule.
Contract managers review the extracted obligations and accept those that are accurate. They can also edit any details before activating them. The interface makes this fast and intuitive — no legal expertise required to triage the queue.
Once accepted, obligations become active records on the contract — fully tracked, assigned, and scheduled with automatic reminders based on the configuration set during extraction.
